Natural Colorant - Himalayan Rhubarb Root

One of the ladies at my studio uses mainly natural ingredients to colour her soaps, she follows taiwanese soapmakers who are very into natural or herbal infusions. Her soap made with rhubarb infused oil darken as it cured. She occasionally uses it for a second infusion and the resulting soap...

Is soap fine in the mold for a week?

It's interesting how our weathers and climates can make even the exact things require so much more subtle thought! Yes the humidity here can be a bit crazy to deal with - I was a professional baker years back and we would somedays adjust our recipe depending on the weather. Even when I bake...

Is soap fine in the mold for a week?

Thanks for your concern, that said, I'm not sure how familiar you are with my climate? We have an average of 80% humidity daily year round. In fact, last month there were a couple of weeks where it rained almost daily bringing the humidity up to about 95%. My recipe is a tried and tested one...

Is soap fine in the mold for a week?

Late to the party, but I usually have my soaps in the mold for 1 to 2 weeks as I soap at a studio only on weekends. My country is rather warm and humid so depending on my recipe, sometimes the loafs are still a little soft and tacky when trying to unmold.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm proud to report that my little trick worked! My friend removed the soap from his bag and actually used it! He liked it so much that he texted me asking to buy another bar! In less happy news, I made some embeds two weeks ago (half filled, my first mistake) and placed them flat down thinking...

    Liquid Soap

Her videos are sooooo long but yes, I actually really enjoy her sass. I've yet to try her recipes but am planning to make the soap paste recipe she shared.

    Chocolately goodness and the sea

You are too kind, I'm still too poor at swirling and designs to even consider competing with all you experienced soapers! But yes, I'm glad these two batches came out alright!

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Ah yes, I read about using cocoa butter or wax to provide better stability as well. I'll give both your suggestions a go and see how it works out! Thanks folks!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made a batch to prepare some embeds for my next batch of soap. It's some simple hearts and stars. I decided after making the embeds that the colors were a nice match so I kept the colour combination to pour the remainder of the batter. Made some cute little bees and honeycomb soaps with a tasty...

    Bbzz bzzz

Tried a new recipe for some hearts and stars embeds and loved the colour combination so much I mixed them up (cosmic wave-ish) and poured them into my favourite bees and honeycomb mold. I was in such a rush that I forgot to add the honey here but the Maple Pancakes scent from Aztec did wonders...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

How long did you whip them to get to a satisfactory stage for you? And do you mind sharing the recipe for it? My climate is hot and humid, so whipped body butter that isnt a gooey mess in the room has a high amount of shea. But a stable whipped body butter is so high in shea that it's just not...

    BB’s Bergamot & Black Tea

I just bought this and was just thinking that it doesnt seem really strong in the bottle. Good to know it's strong enough. How was it like working with it? Does it seem to accelerate trace?

    Chocolately goodness and the sea

Unmolded and cut up two loafs today. I'm usually not one for swirls since I'm horrid at it. But tried my hand at it to get some practice. The chocolate is scented with Nature's Garden's Kickin Cocoa and colored with cocoa powder. I'm starting to suspect the cocoa powder contains some vanillin...

    Lemon soap

Indeed, this color combination is delightfully calming but fresh!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Oh yes her soaps are gorgeous, I love her videos! Her voice is so calming and she makes the entire process so relaxing, not at all like me and my soaping struggles! I use either a combination of soy and beeswax or paraffin and beeswax, most people use 50:50. The beeswax will keep it hard but...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm sure many of us relate to that. I passed a friend a bar that was packaged in vellum paper, he kept it in his bag and decided that it smells so good he doesnt want to take it out. Only reason he finally did was because I made him a scent tablet instead. But that feeling really sucks. If I...

    Gemstone and terrazzo soap

Thank you! It's was rather fun since it's been so long since I last fiddled with MP. I made two more with some of the scraps and ends after trimming. I thought they looked fine but my friend said they're too rustic looking. 😔

    Gemstone and terrazzo soap

The guy who contacted me for workshops does not have a permit to handle lye at his venue, so I suggested we start with some MP design classes instead. I went to get a batch of MP yesterday and made a gemstone and terrazzo soap to snap some photos for his campaigns.

    Fragrance Oil Stinks!

Yea I usually always check for reviews prior to purchasing, but their site does not have any reviews at all, which honestly isnt weird since Singapore doesnt have a huge soaping community. Most of the time hobbyists would source from other countries or buy from the soap studios they soap at...

    Fragrance Oil Stinks!

A month or so back I was trying to make some coffee soap. Wanting a nice coffee scent, I bought and tried a new coffee FO. Big mistake here, buying from a new supplier and not doing a small batch test. The FO caused my soap to seize up but I managed to somehow save it by HP. That said, after...
