    My first “Rain” soap

I'm not surprised if I'm overthinking lol, and tying back numbers is what accountants do!! It's a miracle that I can make any soaps. ;) It's bedtime and so I can't play with this right now, but I will plug this into a lye calculator the next chance I get. Thanks for helping straighten me out...

    My first “Rain” soap

You're fine, no worries. I'm still confused. If 78.75 oz. is the calculated volume, and the Oils are 31.5 oz. in your example, the the lye water will have to be 47.25 ounces. Something seems very backwards. That would be 66.67% water instead of 29%.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Here are my soaps from last night. They are a very modified bastille, 48% olive oil, with Zany's faux seawater, my first time using shea butter (15%), and the first soap with no coconut oil at all. I added some sugar for bubbles. I had an unexpected change of plan from the loaf mold and a...

That pen blank is awesome!! You'll have to show the finished pen to us before you gift it. :)

    My first “Rain” soap

A bit of a long story, and I'll probably ramble some ... but I'll try to be cogent. My SO made me a nice wood mold of what I judged to be a fairly standard size. I think it's 17.5" long x 3.5 wide x 3.25 high or deep. I've put foam on the ends so I don't have to make such a big batch yet...

    Stormy - named by KiwiMoose

Yes, accelerate = thicken up batter fast. Nothing has done that to me so far. People say Castor oil accelerates on them, but not on me. Is it my water, my climate, what? Hey, I'm not complaining, but I would like to understand. I'm so happy that I made you feel good. <3 And by the...

    Stormy - named by KiwiMoose

I don't think it's a given about kaolin and charcoal because they don't accelerate for me. That's not why I'm writing. .. Dawni, corner-shmorner, those soaps are Gorgeous and so unique!!! I am so happy that the pour you planned came out THIS way. You have developed into one of MY soap...

    My first “Rain” soap

This might seem like a strange question, but i do have a reason: How many pounds or ounces of oils was this batch? And you got 6 bars, or were there more? LOL, or maybe a year. :D I just made my 10th batch today. (If you are a fellow nerd, that cranks out to 1.428 batches per week, average.)

Yeah... humans... bummers, most of the time, we are. ;) [Bummers as in downers. Aw heck, if you're not a sixties hippie you might not get it.] I have one of his books and he talks a lot about their commune in it.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Dinner's in the crockpot, and laundry is in the rinse cycle, so I'm off to visit SoapCalc to 'throw together' a new recipe for tonight. Some kind of modified Zany's castille (bastille or less). Will soap CP today, before I forget how. ;)

Soap for greasy/oily hair, help please.

Me, too. I was going to make them last month until I got further into the shampoo bars thread**, at the point where folks were seeing the damage and chopping off their hair. At that point, I executed a rapid about-face! I would have been more than mortified if I ruined my hair!! **...

What soapy thing have you done today?

The more I see your labeling, the more I like it. <3 I really love the green accents on the lotion and scrubs. BTW, really tempted to ask how I can buy a jar of your sugar scrub that has such rave reviews -- are you online? (Suppose i could look myself, but that wouldn't be as much fun for...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I don't recall that one, but we did have children's books in a Paddington Bear series. I think he was a British bear ... but not sure now. :)

    Rounded Edge Beveler

We just need to move to a much cheaper city, town, or rabbit burrow when that blessed day comes!! Some kind of commune situation would be tremendously cool (in theory). The author Sandor Katz lives somewhere in the Tennessee mountains and they are a self-sufficient commune (of gay men, but I...
