Richard's Soaps! Settling into a groove...

Hi Kim. I used the sweetest red Moscato I could find. Barefoot Red Moscato. I must warn you that I continue to experiment with this. It turns out that the integrity of the soap becomes compromised and the nice wine odor does not last. I need to further test and investigate. The key is to...

    Aloe Vera Juice

Hi. I make my popular Aloe Vera soap with Aloe Vera gel and completely as a substitution for my water. I have had no problems, but when using the gel, just make sure the NaOH is completely dissolved. Again, no problems there.

    Molds?

Just my 2-cents, but it could just be residual soda ash?

    Long lasting soap

Interesting. My soaps have a 44% longevity percentage based on the information lsg provided. ??? My question is, SO? What in the world is a 44% longevity??? There are MANY factors that determine how long a bar lasts and I feel this strange percentage number means very little. By the way, had no...

Where can I get CP Vanilla Color Stabilizer?

I've been experimenting all over the place since I took up soapmaking. I often try things that people 'seem' to avoid, so, wine soap using wine instead of wine colors and fragrances and earlier in the month, my own vanilla extract. I bought some Madagascaran Vanilla beans and followed some...

    Glycerin Soap clear soap

I may have to agree that my soap is not as forgiving in the M&P area. It works, but you have to work a little faster to repour after adding fragrances/dyes. One of my best glycerin soaps was one made with a bar of my transparent soap. I melted it and quickly added the essential oil (mint) to it...

    Glycerin Soap clear soap

Hi! Just go to the link Artemis kindly shared and you'll see my own dealings with clear, glycerin soap. I've been having a ball and have created a formulation that has worked EVERY time I've followed it. I was on a mission to create a transparent soap that was VEGAN, ORGANIC, NATURAL and...

Where can I get CP Vanilla Color Stabilizer?

True. I try to use vanilla that is as close to natural as possible. I am experimenting with natural vanilla options now. They all brown. Using stabilizers is not an option for me and have embraced the brown. Trying other options like Titanium Dioxide to help lessen the brown.

Where can I get CP Vanilla Color Stabilizer?

I don't mean to digress, but there seems to be a couple on Amazon. I wanted to explore this possibility until I found out what the stabilizers are made of. Ugh. I'm trying to stay natural, organic as possible and stabilizers don't do it. :-)

What the?! How do you people do this???? Gorgeous!

    First embeds :)

I would buy and never use soaps that looked like that! :D

New to soap making...Iodine and INS numbers!

I have been soaping for a month and a half and almost completely ignored these numbers. I created a formulation that works for me and my clients enjoy the soaps I make. It turns out that my soaps fall at the higher end of the INS, but below in the Iodine. I have had numerous other formulations...

What's the deal with expectations in soaping

Oh, yeah! The process is definitely a motivator! I'm frequently trying new ideas, but I am also interested in how to more attractive bars! Even the bars I make for myself, it just says something more when there's craftmanship involved. The way the bars look brings another smile to one's face. :-)

    True 'Wine' (Transparent) Soap Tests

Well, it wasn't something I was thinking of until YOU mentioned it. :) Testing my recipe test with white wine now.

    True 'Wine' (Transparent) Soap Tests

That would be sweet! Sell your soaps to them advertising that their wines were used! Great marketing model! Holy crap, msunnerstood, you have given me an idea! :-)

    True 'Wine' (Transparent) Soap Tests

I am very pleased with the initial results. Hope both the colour and fragrance hold.

    True 'Wine' (Transparent) Soap Tests

I was inspired by this thread: https://www.soapmakingforum.com/threads/wine-soap.71509/ I also wondered what the hoopla was about and found the idea intriguing. I followed some of the tutorials online and found most were using artificial colours and fragrances to get a 'wine' soap. I wondered...

    Wine soap

Agreed. Okay then, transparent soap test ahoy! :-D If I can make it work with transparency, I can then claim my alcohol-based transparent soaps are all natural, organic! The alcohol is from the fermentation process created by our lovely single-celled friends, right?!

What's the deal with expectations in soaping

Because the users love to see the artistry, styles, diversity of bar types and creations! People are attracted to things that look attractive to their senses!

    Wine soap

Wine soap sounds intriguing, but I have to agree with cmzaha. You won't get any fragrance from the wine you use and how much of its color(?). I really like this tutorial: This method allows for the sugars and alcohol to be used to help make the batter smoother. The alcohol in the wine would...
