    True 'Wine' (Transparent) Soap Tests

Okay. Latest test... A little bluish, but there is wine fragrance present. :) I will wait a couple of days to see if it fades. I also have another test to do. I was hoping to find some ingenious way to make ALL natural wine soap, but the final product may not be so ingenious after all. :p

My aloe juice has citric acid in it oops

Agreed. The amount of citric acid is very small. It will be fine.

3D Printer for Soap Moulds and Cutters

Are we talking about 3D printed or wood? 3D printed components or parts are all over the place. It depends on the material you use and the company you go to to have it printed. There is no standard in 3D printing as most are small companies with their own pricing. As far as wood...it depends...

3D Printer for Soap Moulds and Cutters

I saw a video where one soaper's husband made a cutter entirely or stainless steel. Talk about sturdy and durable. :) It was beautifully shiny and welded components. The components are not the problem, in terms of cost, it is the actual labor making it. Madison. The currency used on that site...

3D Printer for Soap Moulds and Cutters

Wow. I have my own cutting tools, etc. and can tell you that that could be made for about $15-20(?). Your 3D printed version would be A LOT MORE. 3D printed objects are 'cool', but cost prohibitive in many instances. As far as sturdiness goes, it certainly can be at a cost, but if anything...

3D Printer for Soap Moulds and Cutters

Do you mind sharing? I have decided to add a handle to my soap stamp using my own 3D printer. I have my original illustrator design, so will print it tomorrow and share. :-)

3D Printer for Soap Moulds and Cutters

Madison, Truthfully, I would imagine that having a soap cutter 3D printed to be much more expensive than you making one from wood, wire. I personally wouldn't do it. Do you have a special design in mind? I have had a few things 3D printed and they were not as large or heavy as your cutter would...

    True 'Wine' (Transparent) Soap Tests

Kim, I must admit I had mixed emotions. Laughing and condolences. Sorry about your loss. Plenty of wine around to test later. I hope you are well.

Making Hard Soap with Potassium Hydroxide (KOH)

Thank you for that information! I will make the transition.

Making Hard Soap with Potassium Hydroxide (KOH)

Just tried a small piece of the softer bar I made which has glycerine. The citrus aroma is wonderful and the lather is generous and creamy. I hope the harder bar is like this. :-)

Making Hard Soap with Potassium Hydroxide (KOH)

Update. My latest KOH soap test recipe set much quicker than I anticipated. After adding the mica coloring and fragrance oil, I really had to work fast. As you can see, I didn't work fast enough. I plopped and tried to settle the soap into the mold, but after about 10 minutes in the freezer...

    Transparent Soap Adventures

Kim, I never gave it a chance. I simply wiped it off. No harm done except now I know I've wasted some glycerine. :-P

    True 'Wine' (Transparent) Soap Tests

Kim. I just put up a pic of a sliver of the soap. It does seem to be transparent/translucent. I didn't think of doing that as I hoped to utilize the solids for color and fragrance. Naive of me. I believe filtering it out would help! I definitely don't need to worry about retaining the colour of...

    Transparent Soap Adventures

I cut 5mm slices of my transparent soap(s).

    True 'Wine' (Transparent) Soap Tests

I have changed my approach. Instead of using the sweetest wine I could find, I have chosen to work with the dryest and full aroma. My test involved a pinot grigio. Dark, full aroma and DRY (very little to no sugar). 1. Used 50ml of the wine 2. Concentrated it down to ~20ml by carefully...

    Transparent Soap Adventures

Most recent modifications/tests with my transparent soap as inspired by cmzaha... The following soap is a result of reducing the glycerine by 25% and increasing sugar/water solution by 25%. Observations: 1. Less residual glycerine slime on top of my bars. In fact, none as I experienced before...

    Menthol Crystals Use

Yeah. I noticed the fading as well. My first menthol soaps were not bad as I used them within a month after making them, so still had that cool, tingly feeling. If you use them within a certain period of time...whoop whoop! :-D

3D Printer for Soap Moulds and Cutters

Kim, I had a stamp made by someone in Canada at a reasonable price. :-) I didn't think of making one for myself at the time, but money well-spent. It was also 3D-printed. Perhaps I should start a mini-business with my own 3D printer. :-) I wish I had asked for a handle, but works really well!

3D Printer for Soap Moulds and Cutters

I 3D-printed this test soap mold at 250um. I have a 3D printer at my disposal, so made my own. Modeled it in a popular 3D program and converted to a STL file to print. I was pleased, but realized that I could never pour directly into the mold as there are hundreds of ridged layers from the...
