Accidentally used too much oil (castile recipe). Can the batch be saved?

Thanks for replying. I've left the soap in the mold. It's been 24hrs. Was going to leave it another 24hrs.

Accidentally used too much oil (castile recipe). Can the batch be saved?

Made a small batch of castile soap for the first-time. Used the faux sea water recipe, 0% super fat and everything went well. Took a while but finally got it to trace. Poured into the mold covered and walked away. Couple hours later I realized I had a dyslexic moment and reversed the oil weight...

    Soap has wet spots

Thank you for posting this. I was going to toss a small batch I made but perhaps I'll just let it cure for a few weeks. When I did the zap test there was a slight metallic tingle. Definitely not a zap.

    Hello soap world!

Oz. Thank you! I had a note to use grams.

    Hello soap world!

Yes once cured I'll cut it off. I've had a couple batches that are off just a bit. I'm wondering if it's my scale and I'm not getting an accurate measurement. It's an older digital scale.

    Hello soap world!

Thank you Ali. Does it have to be thrown away?

    Hello soap world!

The top of the loaf looks bad but the inside is ok. Passed the zap test. Anyone have any clues as to what happened? Thanks

    Hello soap world!

Thank you so much for your feedback! It definitely takes patience and plenty of research. Messed up my first batch last night. Mistakes are costly haha! Will try again this evening though. My first three batches were a breeze. It's definitely a learning curve. This is my latest batch. Thought...

    Selling soap question

Thank you for replying! I've made three batches 100% tallow different EOs one batch with honey. Different sizes and thicknesses. So you're saying don't give them away? Hold on to them to see how they react with time?

    Hello soap world!

Thank you! I'm going to try the recipe you left for tallow, coconut and castor oil tonight. I started a thread earlier today asking experienced soap.makers for how long they experimented before selling soap. No replies yet. Still debating whether to try FOs as I know scent sells. Tried your...

    Selling soap question

New soap maker here and was wondering from all experienced soap makers how long you tested your recipes and soaps before you began selling them. I realize there are logistics that go along with selling soap as a buisness but am more curious about the testing phase. Thank you ahead of time for...

    Hello soap world!

Thank you again so much! I may try your recipe for more bubbles. Is 10% coconut ok? Scent is important! Do people tend to look for EOs over FOs?

    Hello soap world!

Thank you! Yes I've worked on a tallow balm for a few months and it's a miracle worker for me. So I thought I'd give soap making a go and see if tallow soap keeps my skin less dry especially in winter. I added honey in my second batch hoping it would help with bubbles/suds if not I'll move on to...

    Hello soap world!

Thank you! I've only made three batches so far. 100% tallow and EOs. I'm debating whether to add some coconut oil for bubbles and possibly trying a FO but would really like to stay as "natural" as possible. I'd eventually like to sell my soaps and balms.
