Help with DIY Daily Shower Spray

Skin sensitivity can be a real problem. As a certified aromatherapist and a PA for the past 30 years, it's been my experience that most (not all) skin sensitivities occur secondary to adulterated essential oils. It's really important that what ever company you buy your oils from furnishes a...

Help with DIY Daily Shower Spray

Sorry, I figured if your going natural you would avoid synthetics like PS80. Not likely you would have to worry about contamination on the skin from a spray bottle, I've been doing it for years with no issues. You also may want to take a look at the MSDS on the product. If your worried about...

    Coronavirus

Actually face masks (with the exception of N95) not only don't work, they increase your risk of death. During the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918, the majority of people that died, did not die of the Spanish Flu, they died from bacterial pnuemonia from wide spread adoption of wearing masks! It...

Help with DIY Daily Shower Spray

Alcohol is really the only non solubilizer base but you really don't need ANY solubilizer, just shake the bottle before use.

Help with soap recipe for Malawi villagers!

Maybe developing a hydrosol to use as the water, depending on the plant material, they might be able to get EO's out of it as well, and a primative still is not that hard to make. Cold pressing citrus fruits might get you a good scent if they have anything like that available. Making Baobob...

    What went wrong?

Made this soap with my 50% Lye solution...the only thing different is that I changed from Avocado oil to Olive oil. This morning my loaf is still soft?? Any clue to what went wrong. Trace went okay, it has been really hot and humid and my AC is broken...tech coming tomorrow. I have never had...

Might have to rethink my opinion on salt bars

I just discovered the same exact thing! Made salt bars three years ago. Tested them at six months and hated them. Tested them at one year and hated them. Tested them at 18 months and hated them. Decided I was too cheap to throw them out so I just set them aside. Tried one three years later...

    Help pouring lye beads

Yes I agree, I only see static in the winter months here. I tried using the flakes instead...never again...I found there were big hidden clumps and as they poured out the flakes spilled everywhere...very dangerous.

    Salt bar for a dog??

Wondering if anyone has experience with using a salt bar to bathe a dog? My salt bars are cured now and pretty soon Vegas will be out and swimming...and there is nothing that smells worse than BAY DOG! My thought was that the simplicity of the bars would be a good fit, but I know dogs require a...

    Say hello to Crowley!

I'm gonna be odd woman out here...I am a huge dog lover...I literally take my dog on a dog vacation. I understand your concern but there is a better more ethical way of dealing with these types of situations. The Humane Society would investigate, remove the animal from the home if necessary...

    EO sample kit

I used Bitter Creek where they had a bakers dozen and you get the 13th free. I thought the price was good.

    New Video

I loved the video! No waiting 20 minutes to watch the whole process hearing conversations about whatever and sped up to boot! I wish more videos were like that! I thought the soap came out great!

How important is the blend with colors?

Okay...maybe I worded the question wrong...I have no problems mixing my micas...most I mix in glycerin, my ultramarines in OO, my TD in water...I have a mini mixer and it works great...the colors are well blended with no lumps. My problem is when I add batter to those colors and mix with a...

If I wanted tiny bubbles, I would have cracked open a bottle of champagne!

Well I do like the results I get with CPOP enough to play around with times and temps until I get it right. The ease of unmolding and cutting alone are worth it...the colors are just a plus!

    Synthetic fragrance oil

I'm new to FOs, having only used EOs in the past. What I have noticed is that many of them change over the time of curing...that can be good or bad depending. Also, the supplier seems to have a lot to do with it...they all sell similar, popular fragrances but the differences between companies...

Maybe a mold and then planed? Or maybe sliced with a slicer?

If I wanted tiny bubbles, I would have cracked open a bottle of champagne!

The first time I made a salt bar in August, I was running into problems so I had heard about CPOP but no specifics...so I preheated the oven to 350 and put the soap in there and turned off the heat...lol. It actually didn't destroy the soap and that was when everyone told me about the...

If I wanted tiny bubbles, I would have cracked open a bottle of champagne!

Thanks all for giving me all the information on this. I can see several issues here...not only did I leave the oven on for an hour at 170 but I have a pizza stone in each of my ovens and I'm sure that didn't help. The proofing drawer I have will hold even my slab mold and I can ensure the temp...

Ah!!! I have a proofing drawer that would be perfect, I don't know why I never thought of it!
