    MMS/SoapCalc

I just did too. You know what I did was I put in Palm Kernel instead of just Palm Oil. I can't believe how big of a difference that was. I thought I was nuts when I redid it on Soap Cal but then saw the different Palm oils. I am now wondering if Coconut 76 or 92 will be a different lye...

    MMS/SoapCalc

Basically it is 32 ounces of Olive, 16 ounces of Coconut and 16 ounces of Palm plus 8 ounces each of Castor Oil and She Butter. 80 ounces of oils. I have always used MMS but have notice it starts to go bad after about 6 - 8 months (DOS) not on all soaps but any with citrus oils as fragrances...

    MMS/SoapCalc

I hate asking this but have always used MMS but reading a few of your posts you all seem to prefer SoapCalc. So, I ran the recipe through theirs and the lye is way different. Scary to me. MMS 11.02 ounces on a 5 pound just oil batch SoapCal is 11.53 on the 5 pound just oil batch 11.53...

    Anise oil name ideas?

I label mine Outdoor Man blended with other oils. Then for Christmas I do a Lavender/Anise/Sweet Orange and Cinnamon with red swirls and a Christmas Label. I love Anise but it isn't a big seller for some reason.

    MMS Bergamot/Chamomile FO

Love the scent and made it once but the scent was way to light and made at the high end. My oils are 5 pounds, how much would be too much and is there possible another oil either essential or fragrance to help its staying power? Thanks

    MMS Sweetgrass

I just ordered and received my sweetgrass from MMS. Concerned on usage. My oils will be 80 ounces and it says at the high end 2.25 ounces. That seems low and that is their high end? How did yours turn out?

    Fragrance oils

Does that mean their fragrances are lighter scented than say MMS. I generally used essential oils mainly because I do not understand fragrances. I've used a few from MMS and they can be strong but the one I really like Bergamot is light too light even at 1 ounce per pound of oil. I've found...

    Fragrance Oil Review Chart Link

The MMS EARTH is great. I blended it with Virginia Cedarwood and it smells just as I wanted. I did not like MMS Sandalwood/w Vanilla mainly it turns out anything sweet like vanilla is my problem. I felt Bergamot/Chamomile was to expensive if you have to use at 6% you might as well buy the...

suggestions for places to buy EO and fragrances

I pretty much have bought from camden gray but wondering how they compare with other essential oils. I do not have a lot of experience with fragrances but would like to. Soaped a few of MMS this week like Lavender Flowers and Earth. I also made a batch of soap using lime margarita from camden...

    It's a Lemon

I used lemongrass and litsea yesterday and it is quite lemon scented. The soap even looks a little yellow. I used to buy lemon eo but I'll stick with the lemongrass/litsea combination.

Thank you I'll go medium to strong and let you know how they turned out. I did try the Lavender flowers in a small lotion bottle and it was pleasant. Like you though I think I smell synthetic.

    Fragrance Oil Review Chart Link

I've always in the past used essential oils but just bought several fragrances from MMS. I do not know how much to add to a batch. They seem strong smelling them so I am thinking less than the amount I would add essential oils. I bought, Eucalptus/Spearmint, Earth, Bergamot/Chamomile...

    NDA Lavender Options

Lavender 40/42 I'm confused about usage? I alway use 40/42 at .7 per pound of oils. Is this wrong. I also never had problems with it until this last year where I bought a pound bottle from Camden and It is not carrying the scent at all. In fact I spayed a little on cured soaps for the...

    layering

I use to have no problem with layers. I'd put down one layer say white and then color the rest of the soap and layer the top. In the last 4 batches the top later makes it way through the lower layer in one big blob. So what am I doing different? I just makde a rosemary mint with a pink at...

    My DOS Challenge Experiments

Well I found one problem that can lead to DOS. I always buy my lye from Red Devil in IL. I always use MMS lye calculator. Well, in march I made a lot of soap and only one is getting it. I used lye bought from another maker and used MMS calculator. Well, after that batch I just didn't like...

    My DOS Challenge Experiments

Tell me about these antioxidents? I've never used them and am interested in buying. What I have done in all the new batches done which does not have DOS after several months is I've taken out both Canola and Palm Kernel in my recipe. I now used 1/2 Olive/Castor and the rest Palm, Coconut and...

    My DOS Challenge Experiments

Last fall every batch of soap I made (a batch is 50 bars) ended up with DOS. I cried and cried so threw away all my oils I bought in the 35 pound containers and started fresh with new smaller containers from Columbus Oils in Chicago. Stopped using canola and using only Olive with Castor for...

    Using a lye calculator

This one seems interesting. I've used Bramble Berry but stick with MMS. They differ alot. On my 80 ounces of oils Bramble Berry has me up to almost 12 ounces of lye where as MMS has me at 11.38 WHY THE BIG DIFFERENCE. I am using the same oils on each chart. Haven't figured out the...
