    Nutmeg?

Several customers have asked me for nutmeg soap. One of them said it is supposed to lighten dark spots. Has anyone heard this before?

    WSP "Safe Sale Guarantee"

Thank you for the info. I think I would still be irritated if I ordered on Monday and it went on sale on Thursday though.

    Tussah Silk

I ordered some from Soap Making Resource a while ago. A 4 ounce bag will last a very long time. I just put a pinch in the lye water, usually about the size of a cotton ball for a 5lb batch.

    Other vendors copying your products

Update - Today she came up and started asking me questions about salt bars. I was busy at the time so I didn't talk to her. I still don't know why she feels the need to come into my booth, I never go near hers.

    Soap Making Class

It looks a little pricey... $197 for the class and $45 more for materials. You might want to try watching a few of the Soapmaking 101 videos on Youtube and reading some of the tutorials on this forum. $242 would buy a lot of supplies to help you get started.

    Castor Oil: 5% or 10%???

    I like 7%, it creates a great lather w/o a waxy feeling.

Has anyone tried Rooibos tea and red palm oil? I bought both with the intention to try it but never got the chance.

Describing Pine Tar Soap w/o medical claims?

I didn't use claims on my packaging and left the description pretty vague and sold quite a few. A lot of people seem to know about pine tar and a couple of people commented that they like the earthy smell. Thank you for all of the input and info.

    Activated charcoal or black oxide

You could use little of both. You will get the pitch black color from the oxide and the health benefits of the charcoal.

Envious, jealous & (a little) frustrated.

When I took the soaping class a few years back she still used all plant based colorants. She suggested playing with clays, flowers and spices for color. I met her when she first started her company (I don't know her well or anything like that) in the early 2000s. She started with a lot of...

    Do customers buy unscented soap?

I had a lot of people ask for unscented when I started selling. I added a few to my line and I can't really say I sell a lot of them with the exception of the facial soaps.

    Soapmaker 3 questions

I have the pro version but I prefer Soapcalc. IMHO the software is not flexible if you don't use it for everything. I got really aggravated when I tried playing with the SM3 to make up new recipes. You have to input every ingredient into your supplies before the software will allow you to use...

Envious, jealous & (a little) frustrated.

Soaptopia was my 1st introduction to hand made soaps. I took my 1st soaping class from them. Their shop smells amazing! She has literally racks of EOs and barrels of base oils in the back, soapers heaven!

    Canopy/Awning for shows

I got an EZ Up for $200 at Sam's Club. It comes with a lot of accessories including a side wall with Velcro straps. I like that I can fit it in my little Toyota Corolla. When I managed a farmers market, I told people to buy the EZ Up brand because replacement parts are easily available. The...

Thanks savonierre. We bought it from For Crafts Sake and I couldn't find anything on their site about changing wires. We found that video right after I posted on here. Our tank works great now :)
