    Cold Process Soap Using Lard

I've never added ROE or anything to lard batches - in my experience lard isn't prone to DOS.

    Photoshop labels

Gimp rawks. I do all my artwork in it and then print from there or export to Office Libre docs. Think of photo editing software as simply 2D art software - really nothing to do with photos.

Loaf mold help- what are their advantages/what's there to love about them?

I love my tall skinny loaf mold! I made it so I can make bars exactly 2 inches wide x 4 inches tall and I love making layers in it. 5 lbs of layers mmmmmmmm. I even do my salt bars in it. And I can block it off for 2.5 lb loaves! That's not to say I don't appreciate my slab and cavity molds, but...

How to get soap to oxidate?

If I recall correctly - that's how laurel berry oil oxidizes.

    milk frother in soapmaking

I killed my milk frother - then I got a Badger and its awesome. I use it for dispersing colorants and clays into water or oils. Its way too small to sub as a stick blender, and it will introduce bubbles in M&P.

    A labeling violation (US)

He is claiming that his product cures cancer, and using testimonials as proof - which is really frightening. Did anyone check on the testimonials to verify that these people actually had cancer? Did anyone check months or years later to verify that they were cancer free? Were they using other...

Looking for a new shampoo recipe

I might be the nutjob here - but have you tried a salt bar on your hair? I use it sometimes and it cleans super well, rinses fabulously, and leaves my hair glossy.

Red Clay, Green Clay, Bentonite Clay and Kaolin Clay??

Not Obsidian - but Bentonite is VERY thirsty - it takes more water than you think it should to make a slurry. Yes you can pull your water to hydrate your clay as long as you aren't doing a big water discount. I would start with the default water and go from there. I have seen where people...

Red Clay, Green Clay, Bentonite Clay and Kaolin Clay??

I like Moroccan red clay for its color, especially when mixed with madder root. French green clay gives a lovely green color, especially to avocado or hemp soaps, and my husband likes bentonite in his soaps for the glide and "bounce". I have never noticed that it makes my soaps gritty, but I...

    Does patchouli stick?

I did non-salt bars with 40% patch, 20% grapefruit, 20% tangerine, 20% litsea and it was heavenly. I can't say if it lasted more than 6 month cause everyone hogged the bars and I don't have any left.

    Good news...and bad

Scout is so proud of his sweater! My Max thinks that his sweaters are final proof that he really is human, and he wears them with pride. Im sorry about your kitty, but take comfort in the fact that you are making sure that he knows he is cherished. Hugs to both of you.

    Lavender Oil Natural Preservative

I saw the same thing at a market near me with (as far as I could tell) orange EO and water! My BFF was going to let her spray it on her, I went off about photosensitivity and preservatives and wouldn't let her... Here is his logic Carolyn: " Lavender is a camphorous herb, camphor is in Vics...

Soap Cutter-Homemade? Bought? What do you like

I liked the 2 pound mold from Soap Making Resource that when I built my tall skinny 5 lb mold I made it with that slot as well. I even use these to cut soap made in my cylincer molds. One thing I have realized is that its a bit easier to have the soap NEXT to the box, rather than inside it...
