what does salt add to soap

Its not scrubby, its not exfoliating. The bar itself wears down to feel like a river rock, and the lather and skin feel isn't like anything else. Just makesome! Use cavity molds or you have to time the cutting juuuust right. Honestly, its one of the easiest recipes ever with super simple...

what does salt add to soap

Meh. To me that recipe looks like a regular soap with the coconut upped and too little salt to make much of a difference.

Am I nuts or is this nuts?

^^^ THIS! SO MUCH THIS!! There is no reason ever to lie, or bring other products down when describing your own.

    Can I Make Sugar/Salt Scrub?

I have to say - I've made and used the emulsified sugar scrub from SCM's recipe, and I didn't care for it that much. I really do love a basic sugar scrub with fancy oils, sugar and EO's. It makes the bath slippery for hubby - but I'M WORTH IT!! :) Edit - with your supply list - Id use the...

what does salt add to soap

I have said it before and Ill say it again - bathing with a salt bar is like playing in the waves and having bruddah Iz sing to you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWtNtO5ELQw I find them awfully soothing, and nicely cleansing without stripping. Ill even use mine on my hair once in a while if...

Soap made with 6% superfat & its still drying facial skin

All soap does is clean, and it will clean with a cleansing number of zero. Which is one reason why my well cured 100% OO castiles are my favorite for my face.

Have you seen the price of lavender eo??

huh it seems more expensive than I remember - and my go-go SMR is out of stock - but their prices are a bit better than Brambleberry for sure. I wonder if there's a shortage for some reason?

    Dish soap (hard)

I think what you are running up against is the fact that SLS isnt great for skin (see this post about SLS), and also this is primarily a forum about soaps made from lye - ie true soaps. That said, many here are interested in shampoo bars which DO use detergent (because lye soap isnt great for...

    Cold Process Soap Using Lard

Oh I love hemp oil in soap - is that enough to give it that nice green tint too? Try some sugar in your water before adding the lye next time for mo' bubbly. That is similar to one of my favorites - and funny enough this one lathers like a champ even without castor oil. I have a fellow soaper...

Letting your customers do the curing - thoughts?

I think its people like this seller who risk creating customers who will never buy handmade soap again because its too harsh, or just not very good.

    EO usage suggestions?

I use almost exclusively EO's - most FO's smell weird to me. I've learned to use the max safest usage, and to always use a good base note in the blend. IF I use citruses, you have to have a really good blend, and realize that it will morph. If you are using clay, soaking the clay in the EO...

    Yellow soap and calendula petals

No, adding the needed Oz or two or four of necessary oils doesn't hurt trace, just make sure the original batter that is short of oils doesn't go past emulsion. The time taken to split and add oils or whatever can bring trace on and you can get gloppy. The 4 things added were: Annatto...

    Yellow soap and calendula petals

Its been a while, but I know I got them at SMR and the suggestion there is "1-2 tsp ppo" so Im pretty sure I put 1 tsp in an 8 oz mason jar of olive oil, perhaps 2. I probably warm infused them in a crockpot and then kept in a cold dark place a few days until ready to use. For the different...

    Yellow soap and calendula petals

I think you would have better results infusing into oils and not water - that is my experience anyway for infusions. And I was going to suggest annatto. Here are some pics of a yellow I got with annatto infusion in olive oil: So you can get yellow instead of orange with annatto :)

    Where to get cheap toner?

We saved a ton switching from cheap inkjet printers to laser jet. Laserjet doesn't dry out if its not used, and you get so many more copies at much better quality. If we need color (twice a year) we go to kinkos or whatever.
