Help with an EO blend for soap

I would either add some more citrus (grapefruit, orange or tangerine 10x, Bergamot) and expect some fading because that's what citrus does in soap though litsea does help anchor it (I also sometimes use clay mixed with the EO to help anchor it - it seems to help). Or go the other direction and...

    Oh, that crazy indigo

Hard to say about permanent because they get used up . But the light blue salt soap was like that till the last one, as was the dark blue first one. That green salt soap faded a bit with curing, and I just dug up a bar of the swirly one to check and it's now pretty faded and more...

    Oh, that crazy indigo

Oh wow that pink is interesting! I love it in the cut pic. I've had some fun with indigo (the first step is admitting you have a problem...). I can only post 4 pics so heres some experiments. Indigo in the lye water when the sun and stars aligned and I got a nice deep blue (potato quality pic...

    wheat grass powder

Using hemp oil and perhaps some french green clay will boost the green and help its staying power. I would also add some ROE to the hemp oil, it oxidizes quickly.

    Rancid Smell

Aaand that's exactly why I bought the "tea tree oil" in a tiny bottle from Trader Joe's. And got some really really nasty soap out of it. If it doesn't say "essential oil" from a reliable source - don't buy it!

    Basic Fragrance

Ok Ill be the EO proponent - I would recommend Lavender EO if you can only get one. Add Rosemary EO if you can only get two :) I have found exactly one FO that I love (BB fresh cut grass), the rest smell like perfume to me. My super simple least expensive EO starter list for solo or blending...

    Rancid Smell

Is your added fragrance a proper, reliably sourced soap-safe essential or fragrance oil? I had one early batch smell really bad because I used what I thought was tea tree essential oil, but it was just "tea tree oil" which absolutely did not work.

    Lowest coconut% for salt bar?

Mango or maybe a bit of shea? What about lard? I've been curious about combining my love of salt bars and lard soap.

    LONG!!!! My first soap.

I have to admit that I thought you were crazy making cupcake soaps so early in your soaping career - I've been soaping for years and don't think I could do that. Those are really pretty and something to be proud of and I am totally impressed!!

    Is this DOS?

Im with IrishLass and DeeAnna If the spots don't smell bad, I would blame the annatto. DOS is stinky. And FWIW I use lavender EO in many of my blends or by itself and never had a problem.

Essential oil MLM reps at your booth

"Until I see actual scientific data that supports your claims, I am happy with what I am using thanks :) "

What do you think of this recipe please?

What % superfat are you planning on using? Yes, if you decrease one fat you can increase another, but ALWAYS recalculate using a lye calculator. Fragrance and essential oils do not saponify like soaping oils and thus are not included in the oils calculations for the lye calculator.

    New Recipe

5% sweet almond oil doesn't seem enough to really add anything. Split it evenly with the OO or do one or the other. +1 on avoiding the rapeseed oil.

    Can you see it???

Ok now I need to make that tart ASAP

    Can you see it???

Oh wow that's a pretty pepper! I want to make sauce with it!!! We have been making some fermented hot sauces. First batch was with Thai peppers from the garden, onions and garlic - and it's so good we already used the bottle up! Then we made batches with habaneros and carrots, with onion, tomato...

    Serious Problem...

Awww that's no fun. Well like I've told you before - if you want someone to play sous chef and you can boss around, I'm happy to drive up with extra scales and stickblender and help one weekend.

    can you halve recipes?

Always check using a lye calculator. And remember that you dont want to get too small (less than say 18 oz or half a kg) or else any measuring or rounding errors can potentially ruin the batch.

    Coconut liquid soap so thin

Did you use glycerin? I use glycerin for almost all of the water in my 100% CO liquid soap (I subtract just enough water to dissolve my citric acid and sugar - if you aren't using those you don't need to). This LS is still thin, but better than with all water.
