    What is this?

I agree, if they pass the zap test, it might be oil or color spots.

I have not used this before; however, in my search for a local palm oil supplier, I found: Smart FoodService Warehouse (used to be Cash and Carry): FIRST STREET ALL PURPOSE PALM SHORTENING# 51988 $35.29 / Unit (50 lb) They have a website you can see if there is a location near you.

    "soaping at room temperature"

I like to make my lye the night before too. I get way too impatient waiting for the lye water to cool. Yes, my motto is "God grant me patience; NOW"!!!

How much do you spend on packaging/labels?

Great idea, I think I will try it. I do not sell soap, just give it away to my friends, and to a local abused women shelter. I am always looking for packaging ideas.

    Oily soap

Great advice from Penelopejane. I find that unless I infuse the turmeric, it is grainy, and the soap is too scratchy for me.

Hello! My first batches and thank you!

Welcome Stephen. You really did jump in with both feet. Congratulations. Yes, there are really great soapers here who are willing to help everyone. As for the addiction part, sorry but I think most of us are enablers.

    What in the world??!!

You can re-batch it using the HP method, that way the chunks of solidifies oil (white spots) will melt and be incorporates into the soap.

    What in the world??!!

I am with Shunt2011, when I soap at too low of a temperature, I get chunks of oil that have solidified too.

    Some advice please

Your soap is beautiful.. If you soaped at 99 degrees, it could by bits of oils or butters that are solidified.
