    Sodium gluconate

I have never done that. It sounds easier than what I do.

    Sodium gluconate

I add it to a bit of the water amount, along with other additives like sugar, coconut milk powder, etc.

    Sodium gluconate

Yes, the soap looks and feels exactly the same as with EDTA. I cannot find any special characteristics.

    Sodium gluconate

Well, I made another batch and did not cook it this time! The sodium gluconate seems to work as well as EDTA. I can't say which one is better. I suppose I'll buy whichever one is the cheapest in future.

    Sodium gluconate

No, I used at 0.5% of the oil weight.

    Sodium gluconate

Well, I made the soap and it worked fine. The addition of the sodium gluconate did not cause anything to happen, it behaved just as it does with EDTA. What was different though is that I put the soap in the oven to do CPOP (as I usually do) but then I forgot the soap in the oven. In the...

Thanks DeeAnna. I have ordered the stuff. I'll try it at 0.5% and report in due course.

    Sodium gluconate

What percentage should I try? 0.5% of oil weight?

    Sodium gluconate

Is it possible to add this to soap (instead of EDTA)? This is what I read about it: The outstanding property of sodium gluconate is its excellent chelating power, especially in alkaline and concentrated alkaline solutions. It forms stable chelates with calcium, iron, copper, aluminium and other...

    de-funk de pits

I have tried making a lotion (or rather a cream) with milk of magnesia and it is still stable after 7 months. I used 47% milk of magnesia, 48% babassu oil and 5% BTMS. I would like to make it stiffer so that I can pour it into deodorant tubes but I am not sure what to do...

Combining M&P soap with CP soap...issues?

It will work. I have done it several times before. I even put the soap in the oven and it was fine.

    de-funk de pits

    Thanks. I'll try that.

Is that 3% cetyl as well as BTMS or 3% cetyl instead of BTMS?

    Bog myrtle essential oil

    Thanks a lot.

    Bog myrtle essential oil

I wanted to try this essential oil in soaps but I have heard that it is cancerogenic. Is this true? If you use it in soap, what other essential oil would you mix with it?

    Big batch!

Are you making soap for the whole of Austria? :) How many moulds will you need to use? What an undertaking! Good luck!

    Thank you.

    Salt bars

You are right: I have checked the moulds and the flower one is very shiny. The other two are just matte - not textured. I never realized before that the type of silicone would affect the look of the finished soap so much. One learns every day!
