    Mica suppliers

I live in the UK and therefore buy micas in the UK. I don't buy them from the US because of the high shipping costs and import duties. My daughter is going to New York in a few months' time and I thought of ordering some and getting them sent to her hotel. My question is: what supplier would...

    Acetate roll

I found this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BSB3RGT/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 Do you think that it would be suitable to line sections of plastic pipe that I want to use as soap moulds?

    Zany's no slime castile

Well, this soap is proving to be very popular! I, too, had to try it. As the others mentioned, the lye was very cloudy and seemed to have bits in it. I used it without straining. I unmoulded the soaps this morning - after less than 24 hours and they were already so hard that I had trouble...

    Zany's no slime castile

Zany, thank you for your recipe. I would like to try it but would like something clarified first. To make the faux seawater, you use a quart of water. Is that 0.94 litre or 1.13 litre? According to the dictionary, they use 0.94 in the US and 1.13 in the UK. What did you use? Why can't all...

    Sticky soap

I have always used 5% castor oil in my soaps until I came across this thread: https://www.soapmakingforum.com/threads/tallow-soap.71968 In post no. 2 Irish Lass gave a recipe in which she used 23% castor oil. Incidentally, I tried this recipe and the resulting soap is wonderful. Thank you...

    Palm stearin

Does nobody know about palm stearin then? I am sorry to ask again but my query might have slipped through the net...

    Palm stearin

I think I read somewhere that adding palm stearin will give the soap a higher percentage of glycerin. Apart from that, what are the advantages of using palm stearin? How much should be used? 2% of oil weight?

Amsterdam, Paris, London, Scotland & Reykjavík,Iceland

Sorry to contradict you, but the Mary Rose is actually in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard - not Plymouth! As for Paris, I definitely recommend the Sainte-Chapelle. It is a most beautiful building. You could do the Conciergerie and Sainte-Chapelle at the same time as they are very close to each...
