DIY Soap Cutter and Murphy’s Law...

Yes, please put on pics when it's finished! I made a single wire cutter but the guitar strings keep snapping. I have got quite a few spares (frustrated guitar hero!) and have been using the A or D wound strings. Maybe the unwound ones will work better but I don't think they will be strong...

For UK/EU soap makers. CPNP portal help

TEG? Can you enlighten me? I'm looking to maybe start selling in 6 months time and of course want everything to be legal and above board. I've been to a couple of craft shows and have seen people selling their soaps and have thought about wether or not they are fully compliant.

Again thanks! That explanation makes it a lot clearer. I wonder if everyone selling soap on Ebay, Etsy etc in the UK do this

For UK/EU soap makers. CPNP portal help

Great, thanks! Have just sent off my recipes to be assessed, will be 3-4 weeks before i get results. I have registered with the portal. Is it a one time process? Do I need to do this for every batch I make?

For UK/EU soap makers. CPNP portal help

I'm looking to get ready to start selling my soaps and I'm in the process of registering my products (I'm only making CP soap) with the EU Cosmetic Products Notification Portal. As with all government departments, it's a bit of a minefield! Has anyone on here completed it? My main question (up...

    Supermarket olive oil

Hi Allan Green Welcome to the forum. Like Chris_s, I'm also in the UK and get my olive oil from Aldi. They do 1 ltr for 2.79 and makes excellent soap. Its blended olive oil and virgin olive oil, one with 20% and one with 3% virgin. I use the 3% one because its a lighter colour. I get my coconut...

    New batch ....rosemary&peppermint

Hi Alfa It was a 1400g loaf (1000g oils approx) and I used 20g rosemary eo and 10g peppermint eo. I find too much peppermint a bit overpowering. Smells lovely atm!

    New batch ....rosemary&peppermint

Love parsley, so easy to grow. 1 hour in a low oven and blitzed in a coffee grinder gives not much powder but a little gives a lot of colour

    My first experience of DOS

Here's the recipe I used. Misschief Yes I made yesterday, allowed it to fully gel and cut today. No honey, mixed oils and lye @ about 110 f. Added EO's at light trace. Not zapping As always, thanks everyone for your quick replies! :)

    My first experience of DOS

Just made a batch of coconut milk soap with lemongrass and cinnamon eo, sliced it and found these orange patches on some of the slices, which I assume is DOS. What I'm thinking has caused it is a newly opened tub of palm oil which instead of being easy to scoop out, was very hard and brittle...

Are your soaps palm oil free?

Totally agree. Some are exploiting peoples ignorance about fo's and eo's. Up to us, I suppose to educate them!

Are your soaps palm oil free?

I'm looking to try Shea butter (if the demand for palm free is there). I have found a couple of suppliers that sell for about £30 for 5kg. I have looked into buying SM3 but the price is a bit prohibitive ($99) at the mo. I'm using a free excel template for batch recording...

Are your soaps palm oil free?

Thanks everyone for your comments. The reason I asked the question is that here in the UK a lot of craft market sellers and online sellers seem to promote the fact that they are palm free. I don't know whether that they think people are really concerned about the use of palm oil (de-forestation...

Are your soaps palm oil free?

This was a question I asked in another thread, so I thought I'd throw it out there! Apologies if this has been asked before. Do you make soaps Palm oil free? If you sell soap, do people ask if your soap is palm free? If you are palm free, what do you substitute? All my recipes use palm oil, and...

    Vegan Palm Free Soap

Does anyone here that sells soap see any advantage in going palm free? Do you get people asking for palm free soap? All my soaps contain palm oil and am thinking of trying shea butter as a replacement. I need to decide whether or not to go palm free before I submit for cosmetic testing :smallshrug:
