Just to add to information overload, unless your rack is stainless steel it's not a good idea to keep the soaps on there, the lye reacts with the metal and can cause DoS. And yes soap making is one heck of a soapy rabbit hole!!

Any candlemaker should be aware of flashpoints its not something you should discount at all, sorry I don't agree with you. My view has nothing to do with fragrance dissipation but safety. If someone messes up the temp of the wax or the temp of fragrance it's very easy to get to the flashpoint...

If you are making a 30cl candle , you would use 3cl or g of fragrance and 27g of wax. Some fragrances specify a lower limit which is usually because the allergen levels would be too high although you should also be aware of flashpoints as well.

Thank you both, will leave it alone and keep my fingers crossed. I wonder if I didnt blend it for long enough but I will see what happens and have another go in a day or so.

Yep was really careful with the lye/water ratio just don't understand what I did wrong that's the frustration. Will review my quantities again to see if there is anything obvious but will leave it another day or so and see if hardens up at all but I'm not holding my breath!

Ok have read a ton of posts on this now and don't have a clue what I did wrong! Made Zanys recipe yesterday and today 24 hours later the soap is still soft, nowhere near close to unmoulding. Do I just wait or give it up as a bad job?

There are loads of suppliers in the uk - they all do something different so it's about finding who has what you want, whose fragrances you like or trust as well as price. Soap kitchen, Gracefruit, Just a Soap are a few but there are honestly hundreds.

Trouble is not everyone can wear a mask inc me. I can see a time where I am the only person in a shop without a mask so what happens if they make it compulsory? Sigh, another thing to worry about

Are you making in prayer jars? If so you need container wax not pillar. Have you tried specialist candle supply wholesalers?
