I make so many green woodsy scents for men. That green is surely a mix or blend of pigments, micas, etc.

Longtime lurker exposing myself in NC.

It’s fascinating how people discover soap making and then this forum. I started around 2004 when husband helped neighbor butcher his huge heifer w/loads of clean white fat I rendered. Made first CP batch of plain lye soap from TheSage recipe site. Graduated to hot processed for faster cures and...

    Is this s lye burn?

I understand and appreciate your response. It works for me immediately when I splash cooking soap or lye solution on me. Has to be diluted 50/50 white vinegar. This is not recommended by SMF.

My first shaving soap is a success!

Have you tried beeswax to harden instead? Seems that MMSage has a coffee soap recipe for cleaning fish stinky hands etc. I made it long ago and liked it. Added the strong coffee water (apart from lye H2O. Also some finely ground ( itty bit ?) to trace. Recipe is still on MMS.

Shaving soap - tallow or dripping?

Try all butcher s, meat packers, grocers cattle ranchers for butcher time. I’ve actually taken my buckets and helped cut off fat. Rendering is a pain but after a few washes you get white hard beautiful tallow. Makes fabulous soap!!

    Picture of my Lard Soap

(Any animal advocates skip this one.) I started my passion with that great white soap. Only mine was from an old humongous heifer ,Helen, the neighbor slaughtered. Must’ve been 150 lbs. I only had 3 - 5 gal. buckets. Took me 3 days to render her beautiful fat to hard white tallow. Started my...

    Is this s lye burn?

Having vinegar H2O 50/50 solution near helps when you get any lye on you. I also have a soft rag that I wet down in the vinegar & wipe my arms face etc. before I start. The vinegar water neutralizes lye immediately. I don’t always wear gloves so I can immediately feel if I’ve gotten lye on my...

My gripes are inanimate objects! Clothes hangers catching, forgetting what I did with...., why I came in here, getting up at dawn & not getting it all done, robo calls that I should’ve answered, & hangers!!
