    Benefits of a salt bar?

@penelopejane - I used only what was in the recipe I posted. (with mica for color) I tried to pour at medium trace, but that was hard to determine once I had added the salt! lol It all seemed really think and goopy! (not like soap that has seize, rather like the consistency of mud, maybe?)...

    Benefits of a salt bar?

@Obsidian - I kept the bars on the heating pad for an hour with it turned on. Both molds were covered, one with a box (the round one) and the rectangles with waxed paper. I sprayed both molds with alcohol before covering and trying to gel. *shrugs* We'll see if it gets worse or better...

    Benefits of a salt bar?

I'm not trying to kidnap this thread, and if you choose to have me repost this to another thread, I will be happy to do that, but, I tried my first salt bars last night (thanks for all the lessons here!) and love the look of it, but already have soda ash (?) forming! Anything I can do to...

    With Gratitude...!

I am so grateful for this group! You have all helped me from the very first batch of CP soap that I made until today... I learn something new here all the time and I just want to thank each and every one who has helped, cajoled, scolded, taught, shown me a better way! *hugs to you all* I am...

@Carl - I bought some of the boxes after a similar post by @shunt2011 and LOVE them! Small, stackable and the perfect size!

    Saga of Mom Continues...

I agree with @LilyJo - take screen shots of the Facebook posts and then print them out. It's concrete evidence!

Am I overly worried about lye?

Where did you find cotton diapers in this Pampers age? lol

Help and opinion! 100% Olive oil soap

I did this on soapcalc.net with a 3:1 water:lye ration and these are the numbers that I got. You can see that even with that rather large ratio, the water required is much less than what you're using. Just so you know, I normally soap with a 2:1 water:lye ratio. I think that most of your...

    Experiment (most probably failed)

While I've not tried to do exactly that, I do know that sometimes my syndet shampoo bars are sticky for a few days afterwards. But I don't freeze/refrigerate - I just let them dry naturally.

    Need soaping help

As most have mentioned, it takes an FO to get the coffee smell! I drink espresso, grind my own beans and used my coffee at 100% of my water and still no coffee smell! :) I have used a small amount of used (then dried again) coffee grounds as an exfoliant, but I don't like really scratchy...

    Nice color choices!

    Giving up

The short answer here is YES! And I personally would recommend that! I usually add my EO/FO at the very last bit because that is mostly the reason things go wonky. As long as your batter has emulsified - you're good to go!

SMF September 2019 Challenge - Linear Swirl

@Mobjack Bay - I don't know how you chose which one to post! All of your attempts are just lovely! I agree with you about @dibbles being the queen of feathery swirl, too! @MarnieSoapien - lovely color combo! Were you able to gel your slab? All the soaps are so awesome! @Kiti Williams looks...

SMF September 2019 Challenge - Linear Swirl

This was so much fun to learn - and frustrating at times, too! My first attempt, I just tried to pour really thin lines and then used the chopstick to draw the lines in the opposite direction and then the swirl - HUGE fail! lol I mean, it's still soap, it's lovely, but no one could tell that...

Entry Thread for SMF September Challenge - Linear Swirl

I did 4 batches, some more successful than others! This one I used bottles to pour the top and a chopstick for the swirl. I'd never done a peacock swirl before, but *love* peacock feathers! My neighbor is kind enough to pick them up from her dog walking path, when she can find them and gifts...
