I've always used AO w/o softening issues, even with low to no soy wax in the recipe. The exception is if I gel or HP. AO may preform differently with heat. I did a 80% AO, no SW, CP recently that was rock hard the next day. I really think its too much water that is causing the softening...

Good tip on CPOP. I use AO in much higher amts w0 any softness. I wonder if his water measuring was off.

I had similar results. As I stepped dn the cleansing valued the amt of time b4 I needed moisterizer shortened. Even when I got to 0 I still needed moisterizer but later. Im intetested to know ur results for C5 and C0. Please share when they r ready. Im currently soaping at C7 myself. Just...

Interesting article. My early soaps use to burn my eyes. I attributed it to the short cure time. Maybe that wasnt the cause for the stinging after all. Those early soaps also had very high cleansing values. I think unnecessarily high cleansing values is one of the most common newbie mistakes.

@hungryhawaiian taking a power tool to a bar a soap is the butchest thing that Ive seen on SMF. That ain’t no sissy soaping. Uh-uh.

I thought it was the middle tool that made the multi-edge bevel so I didn't buy it. Would you mind posting a pic of a soap beveled with the middle tool?

I use AJ in all my batches. @midnightsoaper I've recently dropped my CO to 10% too. In addition to AJ, I use almond oil as my HO because it rated highest on a single-oil lather test.

Instead of water I use aloe juice because the sugar in it is suppose to increase lather. I use it at 100% for uncolored soap and 75% for colored soap. The other 25% is carrot juice.

Whats a multi layered rounded edge?

Unmolded unscented and uncolored faux sea water bars. The color is an unappealing off white. One of the edges broke off from sticking to the cavity mold. Will try oiling mold next time. I wonder if only minersl oil is acceptable for greasing molds.

Cool gig. They eat krill...a kind of fish? So maybe a laundry derg that somene in the fishing industry uses.

Lye 1/2 ice and 1/2 liquid, soap at room temperature and freeze one hour. Spray with alcohol to prevent ash. High CO is reported to heat up. How much in ur recipie?
