Do you find the cedarwood scent comes through when using just a 'titch'? It's such a robust scent. I'd like to try this, but I don't necessarily want that woody smell in everything. Do you use Virginian?

I find it pretty easy to hold with my short guide along the side. I couldn't keep it steady enough without the side guide rough.

I purchased a highly rated miter soap wood cutting box with included blades on Amazon - and I was constantly getting uneven wonky cuts. So I got a cheap cheese cutter, like what TheGecko suggests above - this works much better, though you do need to DIY just a bit as suggested.

While we've yet to sell our second bar of soap - we do have insurance, as we've had a natural cosmetics shop since 2013.

Ended up having to take my soap out after about an hour (I turn the oven off as soon as the soap goes in), cause, you know, the fams got to eat! It looks like it's gelled already, though I'm no expert. It's about 90 in the house now anyway, so it'll probably be alright.

I just tried a 53% Shea soap that has surprisingly good lather (19% babassu 7% castor). Though it seems like most my higher percentage buttery soaps don't lather too great. I've never tried Kokum as the price is too high compared to cocoa and the numbers are the same on soapcalc....

I understand Hope - I hope you sell tons of it! We're lardless vegan soapers here anyway, so I guess I'll never know the lovely lather of lard...

Welcome! Site newbie to newbie. I didn't even pick this pic, it just showed up magically somehow through the intertubes. I must have added it to something at sometime and now it follows me around...that little boy is now 6 and pic is from a hike in Malibu.

FWIW I regularly go over 20% cocoa without issue. At least, the soap seems fine to me.

So what's the formula!? I'm always looking for something new to try out, in case you feel like sharing. The few soaps I tried within a week or less of making, were all pretty weak, lather-wise (except for the super high coconut oil formulas). I did find that they worked more or less just fine...
