    Canadian Soap Makers Guild

Look up "artisan guild" in your province or city. Even though they might not explicitly mention soapers, they will often offer liability insurance when you sign up to participate in craft markets. Here's an example one for Ontario which i haven't personally tried but might be a good option...

    Cleansing Balm

It does sound like this guide is geared to folks who sell and the label appeal of more expensive ingredients like rosehip oil. I personally think it's kind of wasteful to use these in a wash-off product when you can use other oils like FCO with the same cleansing effectiveness.

Newly joined - soapmaker in a previous life LOL

As a fellow corporate IT drone, I salute you. DIYing B&B products has truly helped me keep my sanity over the years.

    Cleansing Balm

Cleansing balms are so underrated! Packing a semi- solid cleanser that doesn't need to take up precious space with the liquids and gels is genius. I add French green clay to mine just because i have no other use for it. I think this is the recipe I originally used but I looked up my notes and...

Anybody else get a severe Linzer cookie craving after grinding up all those almonds? 😅

    Ph tester? Making lotion

If you're making basic lotion with your typical oils/butters, water, and a generic emulsifier like Ewax NF then you probably don't need to measure the pH of your lotion. Yeah our skin has a certain pH that it prefers (~ 4.5- 5.5), but if your lotion ends up anywhere between 4 and 7 you won't...

    Lip Ivo?

Haha I have no idea how I became the de facto Cupuacu expert, because just like yours, mine had been sitting in the drawer and it wasn't until @melinda48 pointed out that it smells like chocolate that I actually looked it up and discovered that Cupuacu is related to cacao. So I was really...

    Lip Ivo?

You can reduce any of your ingredients since it's such a small %, it won't make a huge difference. Experiment and find out :)

    Lip Ivo?

You can check lotion Crafter for the recommended usage rate. For lanolin it's 2-10%. I like to use around 1-2%.

Shower Lotion Bar Tests and recipes

Oats get soggy when wet, I'd recommend finely ground almonds for gentle exfoliation (sounds like almond flour can be used as well but haven't tried it myself).

    Lip Ivo?

Interesting, I'll have to remember to try Cupuacu in my lip balm next time. I've seen Humblebee use it a lot so i got some, but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I'm way too lazy to infuse herbs, but it's also a nice idea.

    Dial foaming refill

I dilute it with water and then use it in a foaming soap pump similar to yours, as handwash.

    Dial foaming refill

I just read the product description on that website. It reads: Your castile base is already diluted, so it's not like the castile paste you'd be making from scratch which needs further dilution. So I'm pretty sure you're adding too much water to it, it may not need to be diluted at all. As a...

    Dial foaming refill

That's really weird. Try increasing the ratio of castile to something like 1/3 castile, 2/3 water.

I made a DIY dry shampoo dispenser

I was looking at getting one of these powder spray bottles for my dry shampoo, but people are having all sorts of issues with them based on the pics in the reviews. So I remembered this old trick from Martha Stewart about storing powdered sugar in a mason jar, except you take off the top part...

    Dial foaming refill

I've used these with all kinds of refill recipes with no issues. Which castile are you using? It looks a little light - are you sure it's not already been diluted?
