Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

Well, that is a bummer, Obsidian. I can't use many products with tea tree oil. They really dry my skin, scalp, and hair a lot. I have tried several preparations, and maybe I just haven't found the right one yet with tea tree. I used the conditioner again last night when I washed my hair, and...

Shaving soap for a straight razor

I make my husband's shaving soap in the crock pot with stearic acid, I don't have the recipe at hand now, but it is so slick, I call it "snotty". It can be worked up into a creamy lather by hand or better yet, with a shaving brush. I find adding clays or shea butter do not contribute to the...

    Exactly! Thanks for understanding!

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

So far my new conditioner has not caused a flare. It is silicone free and paraben free. Like Obsidian, I cannot use anything with silicone, but I am not familiar with the other "cones". I also cannot use anything on my hair with any oils in it. I have no idea about BTMS or IPM since I have...

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

I am not familiar with BTMS, I don't think. Educate me, DeeAnna, as you usually do.

No, no, don't do that. All suggestions are welcome!

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

Let me know how you like the TJ's products, and I will let you know how this conditioner works out. Maybe both of us will find something that works. Wouldn't that be terrific!?

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

My hair is fine and thin like a baby's, no exaggeration. I have tried a teeny tiny bit of oil or lotion, but even a whisper of oil makes my hair look more thin, or as my mother used to say, like a cat has been sucking on it. HA HA Thank you for the suggestion, but it doesn't work for me. I...

    Vegemite

Sorry, but I put vegemite and marmite in the same category as fish roe, i.e. caviar. I think it is an acquired taste or something that you love because you grew up eating it. I've tried, but I just can't. I'm sure there is something that I eat that others would find appalling.

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

See? I knew you guys would have suggestions. Thank you. I was stuck and couldn't figure out what else to try. I know this isn't a big deal in the greater scheme of things, but it's a daily aggravation.

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

Well, that's a thought. I had not thought about using a second shampoo. I will consider this, Earlene, thanks!

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

I used H&S for a while, but it did not seem to work as well as the selenium preparations for me. But I have found that my body is an ever evolving situation, so I may try the H&S for men. The minty nature of the shampoo sounds wonderful. I have to wash my hair every couple of days to avoid...

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

Thanks, Obsidian! I thought you had mentioned you also have this problem. I use selenium shampoos (various, Head and Shoulders, Selsun Blue), and I also occasionally use some shampoos with salicylic acid to remove flakes. I don't wash my hair every day since my scalp and hair are also very...

Hair Conditioner for use after medicated shampoo

I am posting this to see if anyone has a good experience with conditioner, either DIY or bought, for use after using shampoo to treat seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp. I must use these types of shampoos almost exclusively, and they leave my very thin hair dry and lank, especially in the...

    Water distiller UK

I have a Megahome water distiller that I have used for about 9 months. I bought it because we go through distilled water like crazy. I have to use DW for my husband's respiratory equipment (ventilator, humidification chambers, etc.), and I use it for soap and occasionally for lotion. It has...

    Shout-out to DeeAnna

Wel, every bit of thanks you receive, DeeAnna is well deserved. You are generous in sharing your expertise, and you are kind when you have to correct our errors. Everyone on this forum owes you a debt of gratitude. I, too, think you need to put all your soapy stuff together into a book.

    Boomsilk moisturizer dupe

Yes, thanks for catching that, I meant petrolatum. You're right, of course, I have found that there is fine line to making it too thin or too hard, and I just need to go back and play around with it some more when I have time. The consistency check is a great tip! I never tried testing it...

    Boomsilk moisturizer dupe

Thank you, DeeAnna! I am a lip balm freak, even in the warmer weather. I have tried most lip balms on the market, and I have found the ones with a sunscreen just dry my lips out. The best commercial one I have found is from Paula's Choice. Oddly enough, the first ingredient is castor oil...

    Unveiled soap a disappointment

When I replied, I had not seen the picture of Millie's mold above. That is how mine works as well. The insert is so tight that when I line the side of the mold I am going to use, it never leaks.

    Unveiled soap a disappointment

I have an adjustable loaf mold that I bought off ebay years ago. It simply has a small wooden insert that you place into the mold to dam it off. Then I line the side of the mold that I am using. I believe it is a 3 lb. mold, and the maker made an ink arrow on the mold to designate where to...
