Is this brine soap a bust?

This clarifies a lot, thank you. I'll do some research to figure out the number, next time I'll dissolve it in water first and use just enough to fully dissolve.

Is this brine soap a bust?

Ok, it's good to get more confirmation they're looking like salt bars. Thank you. ^^

Is this brine soap a bust?

I think I unmolded these a few days after making them. I'd usually unmold the day after, but I made them on a weeknight at my boyfriend's and had work early the next day, so I didn't see them again til the weekend. It was already like this when I unmolded. I think the bars have gotten slightly...

Is this brine soap a bust?

Thank you! I tried to CPOP this batch, but it may not have worked because these were in a silicone mold and I turned the oven off as soon as I put them in. Do you have any pointers for dissolving the salt? I'm guessing I dissolve it in hot water and then cool it down before making the lye solution?

Is this brine soap a bust?

Lol! Okay, I can totally see that, appearance-wise. As long as it's safe, I'm happy! 😂

Is this brine soap a bust?

Hmm. I believe I got it to a light trace before adding anything and this actually started to accelerate once I got the colors and fragrance in. I think it accelerated because I soaped without a thermometer & it may have been a little hot still (oops!), but I also had never soaped with that...

Is this brine soap a bust?

Hi all, I've posted about an issue with brine soap previously. I had some spots on my first batch that looked like undissolved fine pink himalayan salt, and some of the bars eventually developed DOS so I trashed the batch out of precaution. When I tested the soap (before DOS), I loved the...

ENTRY thread for SMF September 2020 Challenge - Marble stone inspired soap

Getting this one in just under the wire because I couldn’t soap last weekend! I am excited to participate in my first challenge. :) My inspiration was this pink marble photo found on Google images. I used Dragonfruit & Pear FO from WSP. Colors are Amaranth Pink from Nurture Soap, titanium...

Tea causes boiling when adding lye?

Oh hey! That makes a lot of sense. I remember that soap heating up a lot after I poured it into the mold too. This is good to know!

Tea causes boiling when adding lye?

I forgot where, but I recently read that tea made for soaps shouldn't be steeped for too long because it'll either heat up more or darken the soap too much. Maybe this is a bit useless because I'm forgetting where I read this and exactly what was said, but the point was that steeping it for too...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Not today, but yesterday... I soaped after not having made any soap for about a month. I made a brine soap scented with Blackberry FO from Aztec Candles. The FO smells so sweet and yummy, good enough to drink! Haha. Once I started separating ingredients, I realized I had actually forgotten to...

My Birthday Cakes! and first time soap frosting

Happy birthday! These are gorgeous. I think the ash actually adds some nice dimension to the frosting, so it looks good to me. I haven't tried it yet, but I've read that lightly passing a steamer over the soda ash after will make it go away.
