Shave Soap Do I need to line my cylinder mold for a dual-lye shave soap?

On youtube I saw a lady that uses poly tubing instead of a paper liner. She buys whatever size diameter will fit into the 3 inch pvc pipe and pours into that. It looked pretty easy, didn't stick in the pipe and she just cut away the poly tubing when she was ready to unmold the soap. It looked...

    exfoliating ingredients

i think pumice is fine for hands and gardening dirt, but i don't think i would recommend it for your face. Jojoba beads are much better and have no microscopic abrasives. If you google activated charcoal, you'll find that it is considered an exfoliator as well as a detoxifier. I make an...

    exfoliating ingredients

I would not recommend any ground nut shells, or ground pumice because microscopically they are still sharp and will break your skin. Activated charcoal is better, but better still would be jojoba beads. They come in different sizes, but the small is best for exfoliation. You can find them at...

    Show us your work space!

I do it all in a portion of my garage and have an old 8 foot table that I cover with the large black plastic trash bags that I get at costco, so when I'm done I can just gather them up and put them in the trash. Then I can just spritz the table with rubbing alcohol and put new trash bags down...

Rosemary oleoresin extract, vitamin e, vitamin C and anything else ?things to keep bars from going rancid.

So that appears to be a .005%, is that right? If I'm going to be calculating by percentages rather than grams?

    Best Chelator/anti DOS ingredients

I am learning so much on this forum. Thanks for the info about ROE and vitamin E additions. I'm going to order some ROE and modify my soap recipes to be more simple.

    Aleppo Soap

A few weeks ago, with Zany's input, I made her no slime olive oil castile soap and some aleppo soap. They have been curing for a while but aren't ready to use yet. Here are some pictures of the aleppo soap. I had done some research that suggested to use 40% laurel berry instead of 20%, so I...

How to get Palm-free & Vegan Conditioning Bubbles? - Please Critique

CVS has aloe vera juice in gallons. If you buy one for $12.99 you can get an additional one for 40% off, so two gallons would cost about $18, or about $9 per gallon

    Saying goodbye to avocado

If there's a Costco in your area check out whether they have AO, because it's definitely worth the price. BTW, you might already know this, but AVO has a very high smoke point, which means it's one of the best oils to saute food with, so you can use it for cooking too.

What soapy thing have you done today?

With much input from Zany, I made two small batches - 1. Zany's no slime olive oil castile and 2. Aleppo soap with just oo and laurel berry oil. After they cure for a few days I'll post some pictures and the recipes I used and hopefully they will be good for my cousin's problem skin!:)

    Meet Clyde!!

I am just down the road from you - in Fullerton - and am fairly new to the soapmaking forum. I am not a woodworker but a friend is, so whenever I have a project for him I go to Austin's to pick out the things I need. I love going there - it smells good and has beautiful wood. I'm glad you got...

    Meet Clyde!!

It was probably back in 2002 or so and they told me the story of how they got all the giraffes. They had so many and they were so beautiful! When I saw your picture, and saw that you were from California I kind of wondered whether you got them at Austin's. I was there a couple of months ago...

    Meet Clyde!!

Hi cmzaha, I see your avatar picture has what looks to be wooden giraffes. I saw some similar at a place called Austin's (a woodworking store in Santa Ana), and really wanted to buy one, but just didn't have a place to put them in my home, so I didn't get them, but I love your photo!

    Post your Gas prices

In Southern California we are almost up to $6 per gallon, but I have an EV so it doesn't affect me. It does my kids though, so they aren't going very far these days.

    Conditioning (vs Longevity, Cleansing, etc)

Thank you for including a link to this soap calculator. I have been using Soapee but this also lists all the fatty acids, so I am going to use it from now on!
