    Lard and Tallow

I use 30% lard in my goat milk soaps and they are so nice and creamy

    HP with Powdered Milk

I make HP goat's milk soap with powdered milk and what I do is add the powder to a little distilled water (ex. If I'm using 2oz of water I'll use 1oz of the powdered milk) and then add it after the cook once it's cooled down to 180 degrees. That also helps makes the soap a little more fluid.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I just sold out of my Lavender Vanilla goat's milk soap so I'm gonna make some more!

    any upcoming sales on FO?

That's where I buy practically all my FOs. If you spend $25 or more you get "free shipping" too (you just have to pay a $6 handling fee).

WSP is running a sale right now with 30% off all FOs! Link

    Naming your soaps

Sometimes I rename them differently from the FO name. I have one just called Magnolia but the notes are 'Golden Magnolia & Jasmine' so that's what I named it because I thought it sounded more descriptive. I also use one called Abalone & Sea but it smells just like an old Bath & Body Works scent...

Abalone and Sea is one of my fave fragrances! It smells like the old Bath and Body Works Seaspray scent.

Holidays in the time of Covid

We are planning on having both Thanksgiving and Christmas as normal. If we had to fly that might be different because I don't think I could stand to wear a mask that long (they give me headaches and can make me feel queasy).

Finally able to do shows again!

I'd certainly like to do better but I'm glad we're at least making profits. Hopefully more and more people will start coming out as most of our regular monthly markets just started up again around Sep/Oct. I definitely think we'll keep doing the cheaper, one-day outdoor shows as there's more...

Finally able to do shows again!

I didn't know that about Asian people/culture, very interesting. We did another show this past weekend with an $85 dollar fee (outdoor/one day) and we made almost $400. It's not a huge amount but so far we've always made a profit at craft shows and the things we sell aren't real expensive. This...

What about 4"x4"x4" craft boxes? I use those for shipping some of my small soaps.

    Question for those who sell

Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey from WSP - This smells mild and very clean https://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/products/oatmeal-milk-and-honey-II-fragrance-oil.aspx

    WSP's Sweet Pumpkin Spice 532

I like WSP's Pumpkin Cider and it's skin safe in soap at 3.25%. That works for me because I usually use FO at a 3% rate.

    Attention Patchouli Lovers

I like the Honey & Patchouli FO from WSP.

    any upcoming sales on FO?

I only make hot process soap but in each FO listing, they give descriptions of how it reacted in CP soap so maybe that will be helpful.

    Halloween Eyeball Soap

I love it! Those are really cool.

Finally able to do shows again!

The most expensive we've done was a two-day indoor show that was $250 and this most recent one was $40 for an outside booth. Outside is generally cheaper and a lot of times are one day shows. I use the festival.net site to find shows in my area and it also has info about how many years they've...

Finally able to do shows again!

Thanks! We're going to have to set up a little differently for the next show because the tents/booths are right up against each other so we'll set up where people will come inside the booth. It's a lot of work but it is fun and so far we've made a profit at every show we've done. We sold a good...

Finally able to do shows again!

We (my mom and I) were finally able to our first craft show of the year a couple of weekends ago and we made 9x back what the booth fee cost! It was an outdoor show so it wasn't very expensive. It was also our first outdoor show. My mom sews and I make soap/bath salts/lotion. We just started...
