New to Cold Process Soap making

I make a triple butter lard soap and it also needs a wash or two to open up. I'm fairly certain it's the butters, ans it's just that the hard outside needs rubbed off. But I've never found a scientific explanation. Your formula looks absolutely yummy! Hope

Thank you for this. They discontinued the man's fave one and I never could dupe it. Merry Christmas to him! Hope

It's not all that it's cracked up to be.

You may not have intended it that way, but it read badly. Hope

Is there anything wrong with this soap I made?

I don't think you're an oddball. I only studied a couple months before my first batch, didn't buy any books until a couple years in, and rarely watch videos. I did however stalk this forum A LOT, along with other groups, so I had good basic recipes to start with. I frequently do searches on...

    Bought my own Christmas gift!

I bought a bath bomb press. I love shower steamers but they stress me out so I treated myself. Hope

Ideas to get rid of excess soap in a hurry?

This is why we advise newbies to make very small batches - no more than a pound. Less waste of material for failed batches, more experience with the process as you're making more batches, and less soap stock accumulation. You should not donate until the soap has fully cured (6-8 weeks) AND you...

New to Cold Process Soap making

I think that is a great plan. It's a lovely soap AND it's fairly simple and slower moving so you can learn your craft and then play with colors if you choose. I haven't made it (though have made something similar) but her basic trinity would also be a good start. You got other good comments...

can't hang on to soap when using it

Sounds like you have a solution but I wanted to throw this out just in case. I use an organza bag for my soap pieces. It feels lightly exfoliating on some of my skin, but I have sensitive areas from radiation treatment last year. For those spots I just rub the soap bag in my hands for a...

A gentle and mild cp soap

My recommendation is Zaneys No Slime Castille. You can search the group for it. It cures fast (though improves with age) and is incredibly gentle. Another option is a 100% lard soap, ideally with a 4 to 6 month cure. Super mild and creamy. No fragrance, essential oils, or other additives...

Best simple cold process soap design technique for a first time artesian soap maker?

Respectfully, while it looks pretty, you haven't tried the soap yet. You don't yet know how well it works, or if it's even safe. One soap does not a soaper make. Hubris and lye are not a good combination. It also doesn't endear you to the soaping community, who may not be as eager to answer...

Best simple cold process soap design technique for a first time artesian soap maker?

While at Nurture Soaps, you might also get a jug of their soap mix, or at least look at their formula, as it's been designed to be slow moving for making designs. It helps to know how your particular formula moves, something that either takes previous experience with the formula or enough...

    Long Lasting Mild Soap

Trust this as written. 100% olive oil at zero SF will be mild and bubbly and clean while feeling soft and moisturizing on your skin. I used this last year on my freshly radiated skin, which I think would be as tender as a baby's skin. I like aloe juice in my soaps for bubbles and a bit of...

    Long Lasting Mild Soap

I have a jug of RBO that needs used. Would you suggest 100% or 85% with a smidge of coconut ans caster? Will it cure as fast? Hope

Soy wax is much softer than beeswax. It absorbs better though with a more creamy feel. Hope

should I melt my grainy shea prior to making body butter?

You can use refined cocoa butter for no smell. I understand what you mean about the weight, but it does ads a nice occlusiveness that helps trap the moisture in when you apply post shower. Hope
