    Bigger masterbatch idea..will it fly?

Thanks AliOop, Yes it has been doing well since I started doing farmer's markets. Online sales were too time consuming to "market" and the results were spotty. I love meeting people in person and talkin soap.

    Bigger masterbatch idea..will it fly?

So moving ahead with my production levels..taking it up a little notch. I have been "masterbatching" individual containers of lye and oils that make one batch for me. I make up around 12 sets at a time which lasts less than a week and is a huge pain to replenish. 12 containers of lye and 12 of...

    How Important is Sodium Lactate?

I use it. Been so long I don't recall why I started. Probably a thread like this. My soaps come out of my silicone molds easily. I have never seen the chalkiness. It's inexpensive so whether or not it is a placebo or a real helper isn't worth the time to experiment. It seems to work. I have no...

Is it impolite to apply to a farmer's market that already has a soap seller?

Not sure I'd characterize us as Contemporaries. I never heard of Chihuly when I took my first class in glass sculpture. Among the artists in the class were some vocal critics of both his work and how he treated the people that worked for him. That conversation led to the name of my business...

Is it impolite to apply to a farmer's market that already has a soap seller?

Funny how competition is viewed. I am at a farmer's market now and I can only come in every other week because they have other soap makers. In days past when I was a glass artist I did large national shows where there were around 500 glass artists. 4 or 5 rows of them the length of a convention...

    Does anybody like unscented soap?

Came across this article, and thought I'd post to add another flavor to the discussion. It's hard while in Covid isolation to get a finger on the pulse of soap consumers. I had only a hint of those that avoid fragrance. Is this an unserved population...

    Does anybody like unscented soap?

This is one of my great challenges. I have played with scents and generally don't like them. I have a weak sense of smell and order what are well reviewed and top selling fragrances from Nurture and Nature's Garden. While no expert they seem chemically and fade pretty quick. I am anchoring them...

    First time this happened??????

Just a weird add. I was making a batch of colors in white soap. In one funnel pitcher I used TD mixed with water( very easy mixing) and one with TD mixed with oil (much harder to mix). The weird thing is the TD mixed with water accelerated the batter pretty quick..the TD with the oil behaved. Shrug
