    Aloe Darlin'!

No. I think the skin would be too harsh (as in too gritty) for the soap. And I’ll probably turn an ugly color. I just use aloe cause I have it on hand and I rather use something instead of plain water because I’m weird like that, but as for the final peoduct I dont notice any difference between...

    Aloe Darlin'!

I say: raid the garden! And then freeze it. Thats what I do, i take the aloe, clean it and make it a puree, then I used to make cubes but honestly i find it easier to shove it in to bags and lay them flat so they freeze on a thin-ish sheet. When I’m ready to use I just drop the bag on the floor...

    Aloe Darlin'!

I use fresh aloe from the plant. Then I mix my lye in to it and it does get yellow, but the resulting soap is not yellow and I also dont get any acceleration.

    TD, Mica, AC, and Clays

I also mix my the with the oils and ahí don't find it traces faster or shows more glycerin rivers or anything. I love my TD. Have also used cocoa powder, and I don't measure any of my colorants, I just use as much as I need to get the desired color. Cocoa powder can give you a milk chocolate...

    I have a confession .....

So much this. I never wore long sleeves (I always wear pants so there is no way aroubd that for me) because it seems just easier for me to get a splash and inmediatly rinse than having to strip first ha!

    Removing glycerin from soap

I mean, if I want a bar that last as long as a comercial bar, is as hard as a comercial bar and has no glycerin like comercial bars, i would just keep buying comercial bars. There are some things that you gotta accept you aint gonna get with handmade soaps, just as there are things that...

Question about using brewed coffee in soap

When i use cocoa butter and cocoa powder i can smell chocolate, so i think is not only the power of suggestion!

    I have a confession .....

A couple of years back I unearthed my old barbies (90’s barbies) and gave them a good clean, new clothes and even rerooted a couple of them. Then I bought some new barbies cause their bodies are different and now come on different sizes and I have them all on display. Apparently I like dolls...

    First soap recipe... Need reassurance!

The problem is the labels say only “mix of vegetable oils” or something along those lines. Here we have a brand like that, and dont even say if it contains palm, but my guess it it does, as for what is the rest, who knows.

    Need travel tips to Mexico

Ha! I was just gonna add that: quesadillas. Yes, a lot of then have beef or chicken as filling but there are also quite a few veggie options like Huitlacoche, flor de calabaza, hongos. You can skip the cheese.

    Need travel tips to Mexico

Well, the thing is, most traditional dishes in Mexico have some sort of meat in them being beef, chiken or pork or anything that comes from them so it depends on how strict vegetarian you are because a lot of things will have cheese, or milk or manteca or eggs in some form. That being said...

    Need travel tips to Mexico

As one of the mexicans here: i feel i should have a bit of advise, but i’ve never been to guanajuato nor surrowndig areas, i usually travel south. But in general the same advise of street smarts, dont have to much cash on you and keep it different pockets. Guanajuato is quite a turist place so...

This forum is going to get a lot of activity soon...

I thought it was fine, other than the glass use and the starting the stick blender mid pour, the rest its pretty much experience. Yes, i did cringed at a couple of things, like too much stick blending, but for a first (couple) of attempts she didnt do bad.

    Oat Milk Soaping (Mis)adventures.

Mine also looked like that, kinda, a bit less thick. Then i used 50-50 with water. Both times turned out fine. I liked it because the soap ended up looking very creamy, i didnt use any color for that. Good luck on yours!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Not today, but i feel i got a bit carried away with the soap making this past weeks... In my defense i had a buch of FO’s to try and I also wanted to finish some OO and some lard I still had hanging around. Oh! And some cream.

    What is room temperature?

I dont have a thermometer either, i just touch the outside of the containers, if they feel warm then i let then rest a bit more.

    Zany's no slime castile

I tried a bar that was 3 weeks old... and it was super slimy. I mean i could scrape the slime with my finger and looked like gelly. The rest of the bars are still there waiting to cure some more to see how they behave in a few months. But on the bright side the bar lasted qute a bit for its size...

    Cacao Butter

Ha! Then i would use it if you dont plan to eat it. I only made two batches with cocoa butter since its very expensive, but i love the chocolate smell they have. I’m down to my last two bars so I am really considering getting some more.
