Can you use both ROE and Sodium citrate when making soaps?

Yes, I agree, everyone's skin is different and everyone's soaping room and recipe is different. I guess we have to work out what suits our skin, our soaping philosophy and our environment.

Can you use both ROE and Sodium citrate when making soaps?

It is very annoying. Does your soap storage room stay cool? I saw on another thread that you only have this problem in summer - that suggests a problem with heat to me. Have you tried scrubbing your molds with bleach in between each batch?

    Fizzy bath salt recipe

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome back. I've had such a difficult year. Am starting back with exercising this week and hopefully will continue. AliOop - I will try Liposomal vit c. I'm prepared to try anything. Mellonfriend - I only use natural colours so no mica for me. You can use rose...

    Soap feels "tacky"

You don’t need to hydrate oat flour or colloidal oats. Just stickblend them in with the oils before adding the sodium hydroxide.

    color variation

The liquid part of the “milk” is added as the water in the recipe to the sodium hydroxide. The powder is added to the oils (stick blend thoroughly before adding the sodium hydroxide to ensure it incorporates). Use enough GM powder to make the recipe water amount equivalent to milk according to...

    Soap feels "tacky"

I use citric acid with oatmeal and oat milk and it is fine. I use <2% SF. I can’t use citric acid with goats milk in soap though. It goes weirdly soft.

    Fizzy bath salt recipe

Hi Relle and Mobjack Bay Thanks for the welcome. I am getting better. Went to a new specialist and I have been diagnosed with lupus - I’ve had for 22 years but no one diagnosed it. On medication now and trying to work out the best combination. Still making soap!

    Fizzy bath salt recipe

Hi Ugeauxgirl, I want to make some of this for christmas presents. I have all the ingredients and like the baking soda recipe. Do you have to dry your epsom salts out or do you just mix all the ingredients together and bottle them? Mine do not seem clumpy or damp. I have read that once you...

Can you use both ROE and Sodium citrate when making soaps?

I have a lot of alergies and I make my own soap to avoid additives and I do not use EDTA. Buy a jewelers scale for under $1 here: If you don't want to click on the link go to aliexpress or amazon (if you must). https://tinyurl.com/2p8dts3b You need to use the exact amount of ROE one drop will...

    Oil separation and soggy soap

If you have made it before then it should work again. Have you changed the size of the recipe or any of the ingredients or additives? Have you changed the type of olive oil you are using or the type of coconut oil? Does this soap have honey and almond milk as listed? I use 1 Tablespoon of...

    Coronavirus

Yes they can tell what variant of covid a person has. Not only that but they can trace it back to the source in Australia as in "it came from a guy in room 202 of such and such a hotel". We know this in Australia because we've had so few cases (until this last outbreak) and it has been...

Tiny bumps on cut soap face

Try cutting early and it might lessen the bumps. Only problem then is you might get ash but this can be prevented by putting the freshly cut soap into a plastic box with a lid. This prevents the air getting to the soap for a few days and stops ash. Or put the soap on a tray and wrap in plastic...

    Overshooting cleansing range

Using just number I can see your points. But if you use your instincts and test, test, test over time you will see a vast difference between a "perfect soap" by the numbers and a fabulous soap that does not correlate with any of the "numbers" at all. Making soap is not just science it is an art.

    Overshooting cleansing range

45% lye concentration might be a little fast moving for your experiments. Add FOs or EOs to the oils before the lye - that will account for any that speed trace. Take a full mix just to emulsion. Then separate. Then colour. Activated charcoal stick blended in requires less activated charcoal...

    Syndet body wash

Wow thanks! I haven’t found that sort of info from our suppliers in Oz except sometimes they state maximum amounts. That’s very helpful.

    Syndet body wash

What do you mean the suggestions listed from a good supplier? Swift monkey is a paid subscription for access. I only want to do a one off product.

Skin irritations due to handmade soap

@Nivisoaps It is entirely possible that your family could all be sensitive to the same ingredient. I'm sensitive to most EOs and so is all my family (to varying degrees). Also colours like spirulina is a huge irritant for me even when the colour fades. It is like an all over rash that I have...

    Syndet body wash

I want to try and make a body wash the same as this one (not for sale but just personal use because I am too cheap to buy it). It's a fairly thick body wash. I know the ingredients and was wondering if someone who makes a body wash could please give me a vague idea of the percentages? The...

Testing Liquid Castile Soap... not translucent

linnie, I've just made my first tester liquid soaps one of which is 100% OO. I made them cold processed and the OO soap took a while to come to trace but eventually (following the SB for 5 mins, leave for 10 mins method) it did. The next morning it was a solid green transparent paste. I took...
