    Here in Ohio

I was poking around earlier and both Rustic and WSP mention on their sites about the acquisition of Rustic by WSP, though Rustic has their own customer service. However Elements and WSP say nothing about THEIR merger... but the Elements site has the same customer service number as WSP. Which...

Long time listener, first time caller

So the thing I have to remind myself, because I started last July, is that there is no failed batch. Maybe an idea didn't pan out but I still get soap at the end of things. Every batch IS a learning opportunity though. So if you can look at a batch that didn't come out as you anticipated... can...

So... Googled it & yeah they became a subsidiary / acquisition that was announced Nov 2020. So relatively recently. As for Brambleberry shipping, they aren't the fastest shipper but they are notably swifter in my experience than WSP. >_> As I said, being basically just down the road from them...

Neat. MMS carries lots of things that could be useful to me! I'll have to do some price comparison shopping later. Meanwhile, from their website structure/layout I would assume that, like Rustic Escentuals, Elements Bath & Body is a WSP subsidiary. Yeah, I get the same feels about getting the...

    King of Monsters suggestions?

Hmm... Godzilla is a not-so-benevolent but not mindless or needlessly destructive force of nature / balance. Uncontrollable. Dominant / alpha. From a human perspective, chaotic and alarming. Dangerous. I keep trying to hit up fruit smells (because I like those a lot personally) but nothing I...

    King of Monsters suggestions?

Hey! So... I'm throwing around ideas in my head for a soap loosely inspired by Godzilla (specifically from the latest set of Monsterverse US produced movies). I have some colors in mind though I'm tinkering with the actual design and such. But I cannot settle on a fragrance for this. So I was...

    Here in Ohio

https://www.newdirectionsaromatics.com/ I've bought some oils and butter from them not too long ago. Haven't tried the shea butter yet because I was finishing up my older stash. But shipping seemed pretty swift. They have lots of oils, butters, waxes, and EOs, as well as clays and salts. They...

Aid might have gotten me into trouble? Frustrating.

You have my sympathy! I don't need an aid so I can't imagine what kinds of difficulties this will cause you. But my best wishes that you will be assigned a new aid swiftly, and one who will be able to maintain their professionalism. As for the former aid, I hope she gets the help, medical and...

For the ladies I'm related to...

So I made a soap for my mother, sisters, and nieces. It was my first attempt at a tiger stripe. I didn't quite accomplish what I wanted. The grey is too dark and one of the pinks just doesn't contrast enough. But I'm not unsatisfied. It looks good still and almost like I did a thing...

    Cheap beginner molds-what are yours?

I have never in my life been able to separate things out like that or visualize well. Never did break the board in karate... We'll we how this knife and miter combo goes.

    Cheap beginner molds-what are yours?

I made a soap on Saturday. I have a miter box and a sharp knife. Once I can unmold it, I will cut it with these things. If I cannot get a satisfactory cut and (more or less) uniformity of bar width, then I'll be browsing all the Etsy spaces and buying a single wire cutter. Pseudo-OCD demands it...

Unmolding & when it can be done?

I know it's not ready because it won't pull away cleanly & easily, which I know from other posts / videos / experience. In fact the brief attempt I made started to "tear" the top of the soap. No no no! I did get a SMALL section of a side popped off and I could see it was still sticky and tacky...

Unmolding & when it can be done?

Yup totally recognize my liquid to hard oil ratio will make it take longer to unmold. Which is why I usually do use sodium lactate; I just spaced it on this pour. But that's also why I'm trying to see if there are calculators or guides that I can review. Cause I doubt this will be my last time...

Unmolding & when it can be done?

I made a soap loaf on Saturday morning and I checked it this morning. DEFINITELY isn't ready to be unmolded or cut. Which now has me wondering, are there any good ways to estimate when a loaf is likely to be ready to unmold cleanly, other than trial and error? Any calculators that can help with...

    Cheap beginner molds-what are yours?

I know this is (mostly) off topic but I want a multi bar cutter SO badly. It's completely impractical and needlessly expensive. I don't have a good space to store it. But... all of the videos I watch that have it have this LOVELY twang noise that I want. lol

    Laser Printing on Soap

So the fatal flaw to this type of labeling, for me, is demonstrated on the first bar. I, personally, have to struggle to make out the information at the bottom (the weight and such) because it's printed / engraved in a light color on top of a light colored soap. That makes the soap somewhat...

    When does it become selling?

Technically may not be selling, but as you say: liability. If you make the soap then you are liable for it. Your own personal liability insurance (found on your homeowner's and/or renter's insurance policies typically) won't provide you products liability for your soap, at least not for this...

Aid might have gotten me into trouble? Frustrating.

I hope the best, sincerely, for you... and for her. But I hope you still push for a new aide. While her actions might be explained by her own health concerns, you still need someone you can trust and, were I you, I would not be able to trust her any longer. A health aide also has to be willing...

recipe thought before i go ahead

I appreciate the intent! And it IS good to know. In time I might be able to work through the ludicrously weird disconnect that makes the squick. So this will be filed away as useful knowledge if/when that occurs. :D

recipe thought before i go ahead

So, and I know this is irrational but this is my broken brain... I would KNOW that it's an animal fat. And it might be butter-like in appearance. Or even a solid oil like coconut in texture / appearance. Or however it comes... and I would be squicked out. Because it's the insides of an animal...
