    Tutorials - new YouTube channel

Keep it short and neat I for techniques tutorials. Channels like Tree Marie taught me a lot but I also found myself constantly skipping to where she pours and cuts, etc. Although everyone watch soap videos for different reasons. I make soaping videos myself, post them on both youtube and a...

    Gloppy rice flour

Rice flour mixed and cooked with water is what traditionally used as paper glue here;) I did a CP soap with rice flour and rice wine. When adding rice flour, I mixed it with some of the oil so it's a thin poaste, added back into the rest of the oil, then do a couple of SB bursts before adding lye.

    How to Dark Specks

I've used 1% ground black tea. I made it by grinding some cheap black tea bags and used it in my neem soap. I couldn't really feel it during washing but ur mileage may vary. In the same vein, perhaps other ground dried plant that has a dark color.

    Rice/potato soap makers:

If you are just using rice water, you can just use it the same way you use plain water. You can certainly add sugar or salt for their own properties but they are not necessary.

Seabuckthorn & Shea Butter Orange Bar

I used 5% SF for all my soaps (other than salt bars and dish soaps). I wasn't sure how the coloe will behave so I just did a simple layers. Was surprised the line is still crisp till this day! Saw your comment just before I made the post here, thanks!

Seabuckthorn & Shea Butter Orange Bar

I wanted to use up the bottle of seabuckthorn oil after making facial bars with it, so here comes some basic shower bar. The recipe was a bit convoluted, but worked well in the end. [Youtube]

Note to self: cool cocoa butter in fridge instead of room temp

Hmm didn't know that was a possibility. The butter was fresh out of its delivery box and I bought from a pretty reputable chocolate supplier. The heating container and mold I used were cleaned before use since I want to use this batch for baking as well. One possibility I can think of is perhaps...

Deliberately seizing soap for layered design

I've done smth like it. I did a 3 layer soap with an accelerating FO. You do want to work very quick between layers. If waited for too long and traced too fast, the layer can seperate, which happened to be because i got a delivery in the middle of soaping. I had to do a little welding afterwards...

Note to self: cool cocoa butter in fridge instead of room temp

I usually don't use cocoa butter in my soap but recently got some for my lotion bar adventure. I bought it from a chocolate supplier and it came in large chunks. Since I only need a small amount at a time, I decided to melt it down into smaller pieces. I melted it in a double boiler, pour into a...

    Cold Rebatch Castile

Wow I lived in New England for some years and never know that! I looked them up and they are so adorable! Now I'm tempted to make a new batch just so I can make soap balls. My friends' kids would love them.

    Cold Rebatch Castile

I was only going for a simple castile with this one but my new wire cutter was giving me troubles, so I decided it was time for me to try cold rebatch. Cold rebatch is more popular where I live comparing to normal crockpot method. You just grate your soap up and just let it soak in the liquid...

Lemon hydrosol safe in hand lotion?

I finally decided to dip my toes in lotion making and want to start with a simple hand lotion. My supplier gifted me a bottle of lemon hydrosol with my last purchase. I don't usually use hydrosol in my routines so it's been collecting dust, figured it's time to use it up. But lemon eo can't be...

    Fragrance for Dish Detergent?

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like it's time to use up all the citrus EO that I can't use in soap.

    Fragrance for Dish Detergent?

I've been using my own liquid soap paste as dish detergent for a while now and liking it. I use it unscented, but now I want to add scent to it. I have FOs that are safe for soap and stay-on products. I also have a lot of essential oil samples that I would like to use up (lavender, lemon, tea...

    Ocean Waves (first scrapper!)

Video I modeled and 3D printed the scrapper I used for this one. It did make quite some scraps that I made into samples, but it was so fun to use! Oddly satisfying to see the batter being scrapped. If anyone's interested, I can share the stl file. It's two-sided, and can be scrapped either way...

    Shea butter

My understanding is that you are asking for suggestion for using shea butter as a superfat (as in you add it last) when mixing? When doing CP adding a superfat at last doesn't really make sure it will stay there when saponification finished, since the soap will take at least 24-48 hours to...

    Honey Avocado Soap

My supplier just says green clay for face masks, so dunno about the French part. It's green and clay for sure haha. If you don't want minty and maybe herbal scents like tea tree or rosemary? I think a green fruity scent like lime (FO of course) or cucumber may work with the green theme, too.
