    No IFRA, No Buy?

That’s me not buying spearmint then. Yikes.

    No IFRA, No Buy?

Will you use it mixed with something else, or just hope for the best at the lower rate? I can’t lie, I have no clue what the other documents mean when I look at them. It’s just words on a page at this point for me, so I rely solely on the IFRA.

    No IFRA, No Buy?

There’s a website where I’ve been buying fragrance and essential oils from. On most items there’s a link to an IFRA certificate for the given product, but not on all. Am I right to swerve the ones that don’t have this document or is that just super picky and paranoid? An aside: Spearmint is...

    What are these pimples?

The first had a little poorly mixed ultramarine pink, ultramarine violet, and manganese violet.

    What are these pimples?

I like them better now, even with the pimples.

    What are these pimples?

I’ll try this because my results with TD have been pretty variable so far. Cheers ears! I’ve chopped a little of the tops off and I don’t find them nearly as objectionable. Might even go so far as to say I like them. Something about the top being super shiny and pimpled made me feel unwell.

    What are these pimples?

A good idea, I’ll find out what items are accepted over here.

    What are these pimples?

Thank you :) I used brown iron oxide and chromium oxide green, both predispersed in oil. I learnt my lesson in soap one where you can see flecks of colour. I’m going to give it a couple of weeks to see how I feel but that sounds like a lot of baggage for one batch of soap. Perhaps it should be...

    What are these pimples?

I made two soaps yesterday. This first one I knew wasn’t going to turn out as planned, but it developed these pimples on the surface, and I don’t know what they are. They weren’t visible till it set up, I’m pretty sure I would’ve noticed. These may get filed in the bin to be honest. The other...

    Preventing Partial Gel

Thank you DeeAnna for the advice. I added the stearic acid out of curiosity and it’s the first time I’ve used it. Having read what you’ve said, I’ll probably save it for when I’m ready to try shaving soap, rather than use it in regular soap.

    Soap Scraps Ad Infinitum

Lovely! I’m guessing that you have to bevel quite early so they’re soft enough? I’ve been bevelling a day or two after cutting to avoid over eager denting. I’m a bit of a dropper.

    Preventing Partial Gel

Hello! I made this soap in the early hours of the morning, about 14 hours ago. The smell is INCREDIBLE. And I love the colour it came out, even if it didn’t maintain the beautiful green of the cucumber olive oil. I didn’t want it to get too hot in hopes more of the green would come through but...

You have come to wave temptation in my face and I thank you for it haha.

    Soap Scraps Ad Infinitum

I haven’t tried rebatching yet. I think you need a slow cooker for that right? And I live in a small house that’s already packed to the rafters with various craft materials and I keep putting off buying one. That said, I very much want to make shaving soap which I think also needs the cooker.

    Soap Scraps Ad Infinitum

Thank you both :) I used titanium dioxide for the white.

    Soap Scraps Ad Infinitum

The “waste not, want not” method I reckon. I haven’t been doing this long, but I have discarded a couple of soap trimmings. Salt bars because I didn’t know if they would work for that and they were kinda bitty and fragile, but also the soap I made with neem oil, because the smell of it makes me...

Another couple of great ideas, thank you. I’ll definitely give that a try.

That’s a really good way of making sure good soap gets used up. Nice.

So this happened yesterday - and a reminder

I’m sorry this happened and very glad no-one was hurt. It feels like every office here (England, UK) has one of those plastic towers to drop old batteries in to be sent to recycling, so you don’t even have to make a special trip to the dump. It’s made very easy. Is it different where you are?

    Soap Scraps Ad Infinitum

I made my first confetti soap and I’m not gonna lie, it’s my favourite so far. The fact that it used up a stack of trimmings was icing on the cake. But it got me thinking, how many times do people reuse their scraps of scraps? Is it one go round then in the bin with anything else? There must be...
