    You might be able to keep your marks a little longer if you painted them on with Glass and Tile medium, mixed with a bit of paint or ink.

    Do you have trouble with the teeth leaving drag marks on the soap? I used a mitre box and saw for a while, which worked okay, but the cuts weren't very clean.

    It's so common that I'm having trouble finding a description of any kind for hand milling that's not rebatching. Do you know of an online resource that has details of this manual, mortar and pestle process? Or the title and author of a book? I'm kind of curious. Eric

    For my shaving soap formula, I use a stick blender (KitchenAid, 2 speed) to get everything into emulsion. By the time I'm done w/ the SB it's about the consistency of a thick pudding. Unlike bath soap, the stick blending has to be done in short (< 5sec) bursts, and the blender has to be moved...

    Do both portions have to gel? It seems like if the high water section gelled and the low water did not it would make them stand out even more.

    My wife and I are attending our first local sale together. Some of her pottery and lotion bars, my soap and aftershave. I spent a lot of time yesterday getting things ready for that.

    I thought this was true at all times? :) Whenever our stash of extra soap gets too large, we just bring it all out during a party or something and let people take whatever they want.
