    Honey and goat milk soap

I have an answer to my question now! I pulled the liquids bowl out of the freezer after it was all frozen solid and added lye to it slowly. I stirred the lye around the ice/rubbed it into the ice gently so it didn’t flick out of the bowl, and it was completely uneventful. It slowly melted the...

    Honey and goat milk soap

I’m measuring things out a day before I make soap because I won’t have time to both measure and make on the same day for a while. I measured out 30g honey, 114g distilled water, and 20g sodium citrate, mixed well, then added 100g goat milk cubes into the bowl and stuck it all in the freezer to...

    Leather scent recommendations

WSP has a leather scent. It smells awful OOB, but morphs to smell like leather in cold process soap. A little goes a long way for that scent

What made you pick your avatar/ username?!

It’s just single crochet, increase, and decrease stitches. It takes time and following the pattern exactly, but any intermediate crocheter could do it. I was a beginner when I did my first dragon and it was hard for me because I didn’t know how to read a pattern before that day, but I worked...

    Soap Making

Depends on your skin. You can go as low as zero in cleansing number and still get soap that cleans you.

    Eco enzyme soap

Soap chemically falls apart at low pH into fatty acids instead of soap molecules. It is good for soap molecules to be at high pH and won’t hurt you. The zap test is the best indicator of being lye heavy or not. pH strips aren’t all that accurate especially with solids like bar soap.

    silicone cup for lye solution?

I’ll venture a guess that it’s just fine. If silicone molds are fine I don’t see why not silicone lye solution cup so long as it’s not easier to knock over or something

I’m curious how good of lather you had with that much honey.

    A big blunder:

It’s perfectly safe to use 20% sweet almond oil or more in soap. I’ve made soap that was 100% sweet almond oil and it was still good soap. So long as you ran your recipe through a soap calculator to get the lye amount correct it should be fine.
