    Adding Yogurt to Soap

This post is from 2009. Not likely to get a response.

    Holiday Fair

Sounds like a good plan. I do remember you talking about those. Glad you finally got them. It’s a great idea.

    Using sea glass in soap

I see soap makers putting rocks, big sal chunks and all kinds of stuff on their soaps. If it works for them so be it. It doesn’t concern me. I don’t make or buy soap with stuff on them.

Please share your opinions on this recipe

Way too much going on. Even for an advanced soapmaker. I don’t use anything under 10% except castor at 5-7%. Cmzaha gave a good advice and good recipe. Keep in mind soap will never bee moisturizing as it’s a wash off product but it can be less cleansing.

    Rebatching crumbly soap...

First off that’s not a good recipe for a salt bar at all. Sal bars need at least 80%CO and butters aren’t needed as they cut lather. They also generally have at least 30%-100% salt. I’ve never refrigerated my salt soap either. They generally gel and I cut mime at about 3 hours. Since...

How can I make hot process Castile soap that doesn’t dry my hands!

I’m another one who dislikes castille type soap. Dries my skin and feels tight. Even with a year plus cure I don’t like it.

    The element of surprise

Love it. Do you sell them?

    How hot is too hot?

Using too hot lye or oils can cause overheating and other issues. My oils are just clear and warm to the touch. My lye is always room temp or just barely warm.

    My first DOS

This is one reason it’s recommended to make and test soap for a year or so. Your problem may be storing it in a dark cabinet with little to no air circulation. It doesn’t matter how many batches are made it’s a matter of testing and curing and testing some more.

    Lye & Labels ????

It’s ever evolving with labels. My least favorite part of it all. 😀

    Lye & Labels ????

That would be fine for personal use but not for those who sell. If you label the soap with ingredients they must be in the order of highest to lowest. I list everything that goes into the pot. I personally think those who try to wordsmith their labels are trying to hide something. Ive had a...

    Lemon zest

What soapy thing have you done today?

@Wooddy i think I found them on either eBay or Amazon. I’ve had them for years so nit exactly sure.

    Oil infusion and mold

It shouldn’t. Anything is possible though when making soap.

    Coconut Allergy

Many use 100% lard soap for laundry. I’ve not personally tried it myself.

    Can i use my soap?

If only for personal use you can try it and see if you have any reaction. It states essential oil blend. I would just be sure it’s only essential oils.

    Oil infusion and mold

It should be fine. May be scratchy. Many add botanicals to their soaps. Just add it to your oils before adding the lye. It’ll turn brown regardless due to the lye.

How to store cold processed soap

I store mine in baseball card boxes once fully cured if I need my shelf space. Even once wrapped and labeled I store them in the boxes to transport to shows.
