Pretty sure it will accelerate DOS.

My first shaving soap is a success!

Yes, this. All day long, this. I’ve been doing it for over 25 years. People think I’m nuts when I say the best shaving soap I ever made was over half hamburger fat that I saved. We have grass fed suet, too, but it’s not necessarily better. I save suet for healing salves, not saponifying. Carol...

Where did the water-as-percentage-of-oils come from? Was it from an older soap book ? Branson? Cavitch? I’ve always thought it was an odd way to determine water.

    High Oliec Cannola Oil

I like HO oils in CPLS. Thickens nicely with a little salt.

    Liquid for Re-batch ...

It never occurred to me to use LS! I’ve always just used something with lactic acid in it like buttermilk or whey. It makes it more fluid. Thank you for starting this thread. Carol in SC

There MUST be a better way to clean up after CP making ??

Any hardware store or big box home store, in the paint department. Get the kind with the red label. The blue one is fake TSP, it’s only sodium carbonate, mostly.

Tetris-stack is a good way to describe it.

There MUST be a better way to clean up after CP making ??

Use any Dawn you want. That’s just what we call it around here. Other brands don’t work as well.

There MUST be a better way to clean up after CP making ??

Let me give you my recipe that gets that stubborn film off after you’ve washed. In a quart container combine 1/2 cup blue Dawn, 1/2 cup isopropyl alcohol, and one level teaspoon trisodium phosphate, TSP. Fill the rest of the container with water. Put that in a spray bottle and use it on surfaces...

    Post your happy

I scored a whole set of Lustre Craft stainless cookware on eBay for $71. Just like what I’ve used nearly 30 years. Giving it to the least’un since she is used to using mine and is setting up housekeeping while she is in there pharmacy school and the Future SIL is in PA school.

    Maximum Coconut Oil Amount?

Yes. My dry, old-lady skin likes less than 12% lauric and myristic combo. Carol

    Well behaving EO/FO in LS

I’ve made LS for several years just for us, too. Just now getting around adding scent as well. I dilute up to 8 oz in a canning jar to use in a foam pump. I get tired of the same scent all the time and like to change it up when I refill the bottle.

Welcome to the forum. I have decided not to lurk so much, too. I found a phone app that lets me read on the go, so it’s easier to participate. How close are you to me? I’m in Upstate SC. ~Carol

    Best prices for everything

Well, I live a 25 minute drive from Rustic Escentuals in Spartanburg SC. So I’m partial to them. I have to order lye in bulk from Duda Diesel out of AL. And exotic oils from Soapers choice. I’m a renderer, too. I like to order from folks in the Southeast. I went to the TN soap meeting last week...
