    Question about Kolourscope dyes

The Lab Dyes are supposed to be bloomed in water and that is why they need the preservative if you plan on using them. Yours seem to have been suspended in oil, so they wouldn't need to be preserved. I still maintain that they shouldn't need poly-80. I use ultramarine in my soaps often and have...

    Question about Kolourscope dyes

You shouldn't have to add poly-80 to your soap colorants. Also, colorants for soap do not need to be FDA approved (only colorants for cosmetics need this approval). However, I'm wondering if the main use for these colorants was for bath products like bath bombs? If this was the case, the poly-80...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I always feel weird posting in this thread because it's more accurate for me to be like "This is the soapy thing I did last night and what I plan to do today" Anyhow, with that disclaimer: I made a lavender EO soap last night, my regular recipe but was the first time doing a plain lavender EO...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I took before pictures. So I’ll let you all know in a couple of weeks. My version is closer to her 2.0 formula, the snail water version because I didn’t want to deal with the oil phase…but still a few tweaks.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Made the “shark serum” tonight…I put it in quotations because I took a lot of creative liberty but the inspiration came from her blog post. It’s thickening right now but I’m excited about trying it tonight. Hoping it does something to help my stress acne. Now I have to try to figure out why I...

Weird Translucentish Spots on Edge of Soap

Lovely glycerin rivers. You'll notice them throughout but they are especially apparent on the edges.

How to get Palm-free & Vegan Conditioning Bubbles? - Please Critique

It's not percent... Basically, it's written this way (179 instead of .179) because it's mg of KOH to saponify a g of whatever oil so you will have to divide by 1000 to get the conversion factor in terms of "grams" This conversion factor is for KOH not NaOH...you will have to convert this as...

How to get Palm-free & Vegan Conditioning Bubbles? - Please Critique

When you are soaping at 40, do you find that your oils look turbid because of the soy wax then? I've always tried to soap with a pot of clear oils to avoid stearic spots but my highest melt point ingredient is palm, so around the same temp as you I will still have clear oils. I know it's...

    Post your Gripe

LOL...I appreciate it. I'm getting better at handling his "bad behavior" moments like this. When I was younger I let him walk all over me (I wouldn't have come back with the "me obviously" or the retort about scheduling it around a single day), but as time goes on I'm learning to stick up for...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Holy glass skin! Thanks for sharing this! I am such a skincare junkie. Putting in my order for the sea kelp bioferment, NAG, and HA right now...lol.

    Post your Gripe

Good news: My family might be going to Disney this year...I haven't been in like 27 years, so I'm stoked...my almost kindergarteners will be stoked too. Bad news: I tell my hubby, "hey, you can't schedule the vacation for the second Saturday of the month from May-July, because I have a craft...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

That scrub is my favorite. I wonder if I should try making the serum though...for some reason I've just never gotten around to it.

    Post your Gas prices

I saw a 3.95 today and was like whoopie!...Problem is, I don't need to get gas... It's been about 4.09-4.19 for a while around where I am.

    Hot Process Tea Rose

So I tried high temp hot process for the first time two days ago. I have a rose that accelerates like crazy (shocking I know) and I want to keep it in my lineup because I haven’t found a better choice. I have a few other fragrances that would do better HP as well, that I will be trying this...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm going to cut my first HP bar soap...pretty worried about what it looks like inside! If it's good, I'll make another loaf tonight, if it's bad...I may take a few days to recover...and then try again 😂

How to get Palm-free & Vegan Conditioning Bubbles? - Please Critique

You would have to have it melted in your oil pot before processing, so you would have to process your oils at 180-190 F...so basically high temp hot process.

Melt point is 88 degrees Celsius from what I see on Jedwards...it is not going to be easy to work with.

How to get Palm-free & Vegan Conditioning Bubbles? - Please Critique

IMO There are advantages in using it in any soap, but the only soap I would use in “high” concentrations are liquid soaps and clear soaps. For shaving soap, from what I understand (I have no need to make it myself), the lather stability comes from stearic acid. If anyone who knows a thing about...
