Make Your Own Naturally Balanced Shampoo Bars

Here is a good resource explaining how differently charged surfactants are used in different formulations: An Easy Guide to Understanding How Surfactants Work | IPC Basically, in formulations, you use differently charged surfactants (anionic, nonionic, amphoteric) to clean different soils or to...

Nobody wants to try shampoo bars unless they're free...

People who don't like shampoo bars are like @cerelife probably jaded by their experiences with LUSH bars which are full of sulfates and pretty cruddy for your hair. I also don't like Lush's recipe. ESPECIALLY when combined with their conditioner bar which was horrid for my hair (made my hair...

Make Your Own Naturally Balanced Shampoo Bars

If you are on Facebook, they have a DIY Bath and Body Shop group to talk about the DIY recipes (you can't discuss other recipes in that group). Another good one I'm a part of is Syndet Shampoo Bars. I think this is Susan's group (or at least I know she's a member).

    Coronavirus

That's if you can find them! I don't know about Washington but here in notheast Ohio, they're selling out within 15 min of being stocked! It's so bad over here.

Make Your Own Naturally Balanced Shampoo Bars

They have a new formula that everyone was raving about but I'm not sure (I bought it but haven't made it yet, no energy for product testing)...I think maybe it doesn't contain SLSA, so it might not be as irritating. It's the hot pour one.

Make Your Own Naturally Balanced Shampoo Bars

She uses too many buzzwords on her website for me to trust her. I haven't bought any of Susan Barclay-Nichols's books myself, but they have been highly recommended in the community, so maybe try swiftcrafty monkey first. When I was formulating more, a subscription to her blog was invaluable to...

    Lib Balm labels not sticking

How is the ink on the weatherproof ones if it gets oily? Does it smudge?

    Lib Balm labels not sticking

You could try wiping the tubes with isopropyl. If there's any oily residue it will keep the labels from sticking. The glue is usually pressure sensitive so applying firm pressure on application is important, but doesn't always fix the problem. I haven't used these specific ones (I'm actually...

    Coronavirus

I want to just echo this. Thank you to all of our healthcare workers who have continued to help despite how challenging people have been. I can't imagine the mental and physical toll it has taken on you all and I am so grateful for your dedication to helping people. I really do hope that things...

    Max time for Frosting CP

Do you need to let your soap sit very long? 2-3 days seems long...I would take it out of the mold as soon as it's possible with your recipe. I'd keep it covered (so that it dries out as slowly as possible) and I'd make sure the top of the bar was damp with thin soap or even distilled water to...

Does anyone have a great coffee scent to recommend?

Coffee is one of the hardest to find a really good fragrance for I've found. I personally like turkish mocha from Brambleberry and Espresso from Wholesale supplies plus.

    Tutorials - new YouTube channel

Missouri River does a regular version where she talks and a sped up version. I like to watch the talking ones in general, but it is nice to have the short form video if I'm in a hurry. I like the option to choose and it's easy to just edit at a higher speed, add background music, and then you...

    successful first time lip balm!

You can add additives that can help prevent/delay graininess, but I found that none prevented overall for me. Cera bellina is a popular one. I noticed that rather than going grainy when using that one, I got crystals that were visible but not textured. I still didn't like the effect so I took...

    FO and Salt Soap

It depends on the supplier. Nature's garden has a link on the right side of the screen. WSP just lists it as the Max usage. You can email Brambleberry and they will give it to you (not sure if you can find on their site). If you can't find on the site, I would just email the supplier.

    Fragrance caused this….

JoAnn's fragrances (really most craft store fragrances) are known for behaving horribly in cp soap. Most I think are formulated for MP. It looks like severe separation. You can try stick blending more or hot process, but it might just be a failed batch.

    FO and Salt Soap

I use 7% FO in my salt soaps. Check the IFRA if there is one. Some FO companies list usage rate around 5 or 6 (like Nature's Garden or the WSP fragrance calc), but the IFRA document will indicate the safe max. It may be more than what the FO lists.

    Does anybody do photography

Replica surfaces youtube videos have some really good tips on how to adjust iPhone pictures in (I think its the lightroom app). I personally use PS express because I prefer it but the same basic rules apply as long as you can find where the adjustment options are. One perk to Lightroom is you...

    Triple Maize Soap

You'll have to show us the lather when ready. I imagine it will be luxurious.
