    Sun Pure Botanicals Essential Oils

Absolutely this! I usually use 1.5 ounces of essential oils per 10 bar batch of soap. If I were paying $30 per ounce for essential oil, that would add $4.50 per bar to my costs!

    Sun Pure Botanicals Essential Oils

Both Gya Labs and Rocky Mountain are really expensive. Gya is selling lavender for $30 per ounce, Rocky Mountain for $46 per ounce. You can get it from Camden-Grey for $9.71 per ounce or Liberty Naturals for $9.58 per ounce, and it is very high quality.

    Sun Pure Botanicals Essential Oils

I really, really wanted to support Sun Pure. But after the 2nd time I had to ask for a refund, and after absolutely no response to my multiple emails and phone calls, I just won't order from them again. I understand being affected by Covid, but the absolute lack of any kind of response was...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm infusing some olive oil with matcha powder getting ready to make a green tea with coconut milk soap. I have made matcha soap before, so I know it will probably be more brownish than green, and that's ok. I'm splitting the batter and putting the matcha infused olive oil in one half, and the...

    Sun Pure Botanicals Essential Oils

I have had a couple of bad experiences with Sun Pure, and for that reason, I would not recommend them. My first order arrived right away, so I ordered again and my 2nd order took over a month to arrive, and only arrived after I requested a refund (they are located about 6 hours away from where I...

    What did you eat today?

That sounds really good! We had noodles too (somen), with a soy/ginger/sesame sauce and grilled chicken and vegetables.

Tap Water vs Distilled Water Experiment

Here’s something crazy—only very recently in Colorado were the laws changed so that you can collect and use rainwater that runs off your roof. Before that it was illegal, because that water was owned by someone “downstream” of you. Water laws in the western US are wacky.

Tap Water vs Distilled Water Experiment

I'd be interested to hear who is on municipal water and who is on well water. We are on a well, with a whole house filter and I use tap water.

What soapy thing have you done today?

New soap cutter in action! I’ve never had such straight, even bars!

    Creosote/Chaparral Soap

You can find sagebrush essential oil, but it is VERY expensive (which is weird to me since sagebrush is ubiquitous across the western US.) I have not heard of creosote essential oil.

SMF April 2022 Soap Challenge - Straight Line design

I love straight line designs, but I HATE doing them! 😆 Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

Good-bye dear Guy At the End of the Bar

I'm so sorry, Zing. It's so hard to lose our beloved furry family members. I hope that when you are ready you are able to adopt another amazing soul from a shelter.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

It’s not gritty at all, so it sounds like it’s the shea. I didn’t melt it, just softened it.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Trying to decide what to do with my next batch. It's called "wild rose" and it's got geranium, petitgrain, orange, litsea, cedarwood and rosewood essential oils. I'm using rose clay and activated charcoal. It's going to move fast, so I need something simple. Maybe a hanger swirl?

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

They smell amazing, but there are a few small lumps—maybe from the arrowroot? I did whip the heck out of it, and it feels smooth going on, but there are definitely some small lumps here and there. New to the body butter thing, so it’s all a learning process.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I made a whipped body butter with mango and shea butters and arrowroot powder and a little bit of clary sage and lemongrass essential oils.

    Basil EO

I've used it blended with orange and litsea. You can only use it at a very low percentage, so you definitely want to blend it with something else. Agree with the EOcalc suggestions.
