    FO and Salt Soap

I just started using a salt bar I made a year ago November. It still smells good! I used a FO at 3% and still going strong. It was an FO from Bulk Apothecary I was trying to get rid of. Interesting…

Another batch of CP soap accelerated

At first glance… 1. TD and AA can speed trace 2. “Hot” EO like cinnamon or clove tend to accelerate soap 3. What percentage of coconut oil are you using, high percentages of CO accelerate batches for me. 4. You could try 2:1 water:lye ratio, sometimes more water helps… I’ve stopped adjusting...

Will these soap recipes I created work for their intended use?

When you say “shampoo bar” are you talking cp soap for your hair or a syndet (synthetic detergent) solid shampoo bars? Because those are two different species! And some (myself included) do not recommend soap made with lye to be used as a shampoo because the ph is so high and it can dramatically...

Hot and cold process in one soap

Never made HP or rebatched, so this is just a guess… but I would think if it was all molded at the same time and the HP part was still warm and textured the CP would flow through all the nooks and crannies and hold tight.

Ideas to get rid of excess soap in a hurry?

Yep, I also give all my batches of soap that I do not consider successful bars of soap to a local shelter. As long as they pass the zap test and cure an appropriate amount of time, I box em up and drop them off.

    +1 for LotionCrafter

Lotioncrafter is always so quick. Off season I order one day and it’s shipped the next! They are great plus they have a lot of cool additives!

Ideas to get rid of excess soap in a hurry?

I use bars of soap at the sink for dishes. I just lather up my brush or dish sponge and have at it.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I dooo tooo!!!! I hate it! The ash is so horrendous with individual molds for me! What I've been doing is pouring them as full as I can, if I remember...spray them with alcohol and then cover tightly with plastic wrap. I then proceed to forget about them and find them a couple weeks later and...

    tips for lip balm tubes?

I made 12 tubes of tinted lip balm last month and I rubber banded them all together and poured from a small pitcher. Worked well for me, although they were the bigger .5 ounce roll up tubes. The pitcher is pretty cool, I got it with a WSP lip balm kit I ordered last year. It’s the perfect size...

2022 (too soon?) Soap Making Goals.

Build it! It’s not too hard! Mine is just like that but a little taller! Also, be careful… the wooden trays can be a little heavy packed with soap! I’ve found I don’t take the trays out of the rack much. I take the soap to the tray! My goal for the new year would be to turn my sunroom into my...

What's going on with my recipe?

In the winter I even turn the ceiling fan off in the kitchen and try to keep the house at my normal temp... It's weird but its been working. and I CPOP in an old little micro fridge I got from work (I work at a hotel). I warm it up while I'm making my soap and pop it in for the night. Sometime I...

    Zingiberaceae

Not to change the subject, because I have a lemongrass Ginger FO that I love and would only hope that the EO fragrance would survive if I were to use it, but wouldn’t Ginger be a spicy/tingly EO for body use? I’m curious… The Ginger Lily sounds glorious!

What's going on with my recipe?

I've never had trouble with the SM3 recipe calculator, but because I soap at room temp, during the winter I also have problems because my room temperature is to low for me to soap at. I get a very grainy batter and the soap is soft forever. I usually reheat my oils a wee bit just to make sure...

    Advice and recommendations…

When I gave my friend the two bars to try out, she explained that her fiancé has psoriasis. She said he had trouble with fragrances as irritants. I explained the two soaps were not fragranced and although the soap is not a cure, it may not be another irritant. To try it out and if not I can make...
