Using Fresh Mountain Snow Melt for CP Soap

I do the ocean water too, boil and filter. Snow should be free of any minerals, as I understand. It is evaporated water, unless something got to it when it was on the ground. I wouldn't worry about it. When I was small, older ladies were collecting rainwater and it was the only water they used...

    Liquid Soap too cloudy

First of all, the soap doesn't look very cloudy to me. Just like AliOop said, the clarity will depend on type of oils. Want clear soap - do 100% coconut, that will give you clear soap for sure, but will be very drying. Second, superfat in liquid soap will cloud the soap, it will be basically fat...

    Overheated soap, my new favorite

@AliOop , you were right. :nodding: Did the soap with "china rain" from Nature's Garden. The same recipe. The FO accelerated quick, so had to kind of blob everything, tried to do the drops as fast and as well as I could, no time for swirling any clouds on the top. Here is the result: Not so...

    What silicone to chose?

Called Brickintheyard, they suggested TC-5110. Bought it, will be playing with this this weekend. We will see how it works out.

    What silicone to chose?

I though about that too, and I might try it. But it is not going to be perfect, and I am a perfectionist. Plus, there so many silicone molds on Etsy, I don't believe it is that difficult to buy those, just need to know what kind. Thanks for the lead. I will call them today and see what they...

    Laughing at myself!

Can you give me your opinion please?

The soap look Ok, the paste looks like it gelled. Don't see any problems there. Not sure what is your question. As long as it feels good to you - that is what matters. The bubbliness depends on type of oils you use, but the first soap should be bubbly enough. Not sure what happened there. With...

    What silicone to chose?

I like how cool acrylic molds look. But they are expensive, so I decided to make my own. I also hate lining molds, so the next reasonable step was to make matching silicone mold. Took me 2 days and here what came out of the project. Everything is OK, except the silicone. I bought it on...

What natural, easy to find additives have you experimented with?

Did anybody try to put chicken feathers in the lye solution instead of silk? I didn't try silk yet, don't want to buy yet another ingredient to try. Keep looking at all those feathers laying around my chicken coop, got me thinking. Will it be similar to the silk?

What natural, easy to find additives have you experimented with?

I did the yellow passion fruit juice instead of water. Add a nice yellow color that lasts. Somewhat worried about high acidity that most likely increasing the superfat, but the soap feels nice

How are you offsetting the cost of Olive Oil?

How about lard or tallow? Just saying... Love the feel and longevity of the soap with those. And they are cheaper for now.

Quick question, well and septic tank

I use my liquid coconut dish soap as well. Absolutely love it. I know lot of people on this forum say that it doesn't clean well. the signets are better. But I am looking for any chance to make a soap and will not rub myself of the opportunity to make more of it. In fact, I catch myself on maybe...

How much faster does tallow trace than lard?

I totally agree with you that the comparison is nor fair. 🤝 What I was trying to imply, there is the big difference between suet tallow and the tallow from Essential Depot in terms of hardness at room temp. Even Essential Depot on their website points out that: "This product may not be solid at...

    Overheated soap, my new favorite

That explains some. Thanks. Now I will be tempted to make the same soap with another fragrance... Maybe I will. Weekend is after all for making more soap:nodding:

    Overheated soap, my new favorite

FO was tobacco and bay leaf from BrambleBerry, it says 0% vanilla content. And the Indigo is dispersed in olive oil about a month ago. using it a lot for different soaps. Why I suspect the overheating is because the middle of the drops look dry and almost crumbly. Absolutely different texture...

    Overheated soap, my new favorite

followed this ' The faster you move the bottle, the smaller the drops will be. Easy. Forgot to add. I copied the water amount from the ghost soap recipe. The drops and lightning were high water, the rest of the soap is low water. That's why it overheated during jell process and turn those...

    Overheated soap, my new favorite

Did raindrop soap several day ago. Used indigo to color the base, the drops were supposed to be white, no color. Here is what came out of it Liked it so much that made another batch next day, with smaller drops and lightning The drops are sort of crumbly, but holding up very well. Planed it...

How much faster does tallow trace than lard?

I used beef suet tallow that I rendered by myself and it traced super fast. My recipe was coconut 20%, castor 5%, tallow 40%, olive 35%. It was close to soap on a stick. Several day ago I got tallow from Essential Depot, mixed it with lard (40/40%) and it is super slow. But the suet tallow is...

    Lard

I added Levander and Cedar from Brumble Berry

    Lard

yes, I did. If put against the light source, the middle of the ghost soap it translucent. Again, LOVE lard and tallow. Ordered more in Walmart. Now I have to really figure out what am I going to do with all this soap. It became an addiction and the joke in the family
