    FOs - Scent Memory Fragrance

How does it behave? I have a big (well, big for me--8 oz) bottle of Rose Noir that I bought scent-unsmelled when she was discontinuing it. It's a beautiful floral--rose but not sickly sweet rose, and it behaves perfectly---no acceleration and no discoloration. The description of it says top...

    FOs - Scent Memory Fragrance

I have a 1 ounce bottle of that, but I haven't tried it yet. Sorry. However, I have recently soaped with eight SM fragrances. I love the big Farmhouse soap bars (Crafter), and I determined her sample 10ml bottles would go perfectly with 6 oz of oil, which ends up being 1 farmhouse bar and one...

Elements -when did they discontinue smaller sizes?

I actually have not been overly thrilled with Elements fragrances anyway. I don't think I've used more than one or two that I bought, because I either didn't like them or they weren't strong enough, etc. But then, you get what you pay for. I spot checked the price of their 8oz fragrances, and...

Favorite and most hated oils to use?

Remember that a lot of the beneficial properties of oils are "killed," for lack of a better word, during saponification. I have added small amounts of specialty oils (I LOVE emu oil, for example) to either melt and pour or rebatch bars, because the oils are not chemically altered. Unless you...

Favorite and most hated oils to use?

I have never seen tallow of any sort at Walmart, and I would have grabbed some if I did. But I wouldn't use that oily gold on soap. Duck fat potatoes are the bomb.

Favorite and most hated oils to use?

I agree about both the lard and tallow. Walmart sells an 8 pound and a 4 pound tub of lard. Also get some castor oil. use it at 5% in almost all my batches, and as a hobby soaper, I only make one or two pound (or smaller) batches at a time, and I just ordered another bottle from Amazon. A 16...

    Quick Masterbatch Question

I like to make a masterbatch of my oils (for my hobby soaper self, I'm talking about less than 5 lb of oils), because then I can make small batches to try fragrance or technique with a minimum of hassle. I like adding goatsmilk powder and colloidal oatmeal to my soaps, but I'm wondering if it...

    Oregon Trails fragrance oils

I've said this before, but if you like sandalwood, OT's Mysore Sandalwood is the best I've found. I also really like her Absolutely Awesome Oakmoss. Bonsai is good (and strong), and one that I really like that goes under the radar is her Mardi Gras. Really nice, and really well behaved. When...

    Basti's Adventures in Soap (2023)

Wow. Do you put alcohol between all the layers?

    Basti's Adventures in Soap (2023)

Those are gorgeous. How do you even get the effects like on the top and bottom soap with M&P?

    FOs - Scent Memory Fragrance

Don't know that fragrance, but Kristen said she adds soap notes now if people put them in their reviews. So I've tried to comment on that if I review a fragrance. I wish she would do what Nurture does--it appears that Nurture tests their fragrances themselves, and she has soaping notes for all...

    Oregon Trails fragrance oils

I got it years ago, and unless they changed the formula, it smells exactly like the shampoo (which I used to use years ago). And it's STRONG.

    Stephenson Shampoo Bar

I made some Syndapour shampoo bars, and it seems to be hubby's favorite (scented with Byredo Sunday). I actually like the Syndapour bars much better than other M+P shampoo bars, and I like it better than the Lush solid shampoo I bought years ago. The solid condition base, however, was not...

    Curing time for CP soap

I think you answered yourself. I usually cure my soap for 6 - 8 weeks, because, as you said, " I noticed is that, the longer you cure it the better it smells and the harder the bar becomes and the more moisturizing it feels !" It's perfectly safe to use long before that. But it's cured for...

    Premade lotion bases

Years ago when I started doing M&P soap, I also used to make lotions from scratch. Nowadays, I prefer to make CP soap and lotion bars, even though I have e-wax, preservatives, etc., But I do like trying and using the various vendors premade lotion bases, because I can add my own scents and make...

Brambleberry scents that I have are very light in scent. Is that the norm?

I made the orange spice soap in October, and it still smelled like a lovely pomander (in fact, that's what I named the soap) when I packaged it at Christmas--so I don't really have a long term prognosis, but I was impressed with how well it stuck even for a couple months. Nurture has a lovely...

    Paramour

As usual, your soaps are gorgeous. :winner:I ended up buying a ton of Delhi Junction a couple years ago. Hubby wanted to give candles to his co-workers (pre-Covid), and he snuffled a lot of my fragrances and said that was the one he wanted. I have a bottle left and have not used it in soap...

Brambleberry scents that I have are very light in scent. Is that the norm?

I've had a mixed bag with Brambleberry too. For example, their patchouli is almost non-existent, both in the bottle and in CP soap. If I had to pick one vendor for fragrance, I would use Nurture. Not only are the fragrances good (and strong), but her testing notes are incredibly helpful. I've...

    Felt Soaps

I got something similar, although only 36 colors, because I'm such an enablement pushover. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BWVC5ZI I'm not even attempting anything until after the holidays....but when life gets back to what passes for normal, I'm looking forward to trying it.

    What should I order?

One thing that I found was a pleasant surprise was this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F2BJ52S/ These fit the mold I told you about perfectly, so keep them in mind if you want to section your soap.
