What soapy thing have you done today?

I used up all my soft oils. I plan to start up again with all fresh stuff in 2025 (The year I will make fancy soaps). All I have left is an unopened 5 lb bag of cocoa butter wafers. That will be placed on a pedestal in my living room and admired.

    Basti's Adventures in Soap (2024)

Thanks @basti. Yes, I love it. It is a neon from Mad Micas called "Tickled Pink." I used half a teaspoon to 2000 grams of oils. It is a powerful pink for sure.

    What happens now?

Oh thank you @AliOop. Good to know because I made 17 bars...sorry, the friend made 17 bars ;)

    What happens now?

So what happens if somebody forgot to add sugar to the lye water and tried to add it after wards and finds a big lump of unmixed sugar in the soap pot after pouring? But the lump is not the full volume of added sugar so some sugar got in somewhere. On cutting the soap the next day there appears...

    French Milled

"While there is promising research behind Heman Bekele’s $0.50 Skin Cancer Treating Soap (SCTS), it is still in the testing phase and has not yet been FDA-approved. The soap shows potential in preventing skin cancer, but more research and clinical trials are needed before it can be considered an...

Is this the thread that won't die? It was started in 2013 and is still stumbling around like a zombie.

    Basti's Adventures in Soap (2024)

@basti I'm floored!!! Amazingly beautiful soaps. You are definitely an artist. I'm so inspired that I'm running over to my laundry room to start making some soaps right now! Next day: There, I made soap. Plain old soap but I am inspired to get fancy in 2025.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made cheddar cheese...no sorry, I made soap that looks like cheddar cheese, LOL! The mica was one teaspoon of yellow and two teaspoons of orange. Trying to get a color to complement a Pink Grapefruit fragrance. looks Like I missed the mark. It looked good when I mixed it. Oh well. I wrote...

    My Other Hobby

Thanks @AliOop and @lsg :--) @Ekuzo the electrocuted hairstyle one I call a Mulligan. It's an unofficial golf term meaning you made a bad shot and want to redo your shot. I tried to make him look shocked and dismayed. People who play golf find him to be very funny. I don't play but my husband...

Using a coffee urn for masterbatching oils?

It looks good but I have never used one for heating oils. I did have a coffee urn years ago and used it for coffee when entertaining--wished I had kept it. My thoughts are this: 1. Can you clean it easily? My coffee urn had a short open drain/tap at the bottom that was easy to clean with a...

    My Other Hobby

So here is what I have been making for the past year. I opened an Etsy shop where I make things from golf balls. I don't know if I'm allowed to post the shop link here so I will hold off...don't want to break the rules.

Will you take me back :--)

Hi Everyone, I have been absent for well over a year and hope you all will let me back in, ha ha!. Haven't made soap for all that time and it is like starting over. I had to lurk and reread old threads to get back on track again. I was planning to sell at a craft show this past spring but it was...

    It Comes in Threes

    Whoops!

My first attempts at making soap were too embarrassing to think about. I learned a lot from forum members :nodding: so don't give up.

    Whoops!

Oh, and while I'm thinking about it, what SAP value did you use for the hydrogenated soy? I suggest if you want to use it, go to this forum's lye calculator and put in a custom oil with these numbers: Sap KOH0.19 Sap NaOH0.135 Iodine50 INS152 Lauric0 Myristic0 Palmitic10 Stearic32 Ricinoleic0...
