    Steep learning curve!

I just finished my 6th batch and I encounter a little something every time. Nothing major though. All of what I have made is good usable soap!

    Lard question

Soo far all of my Lard has come from bacon grease or some people in other countries refer to it as "drippings". I have been showering with my cured Lard soap for two days now and it is very easy on the skin, it doesn't smell and the soap bars are very durable. I put the bar on a dry surface when...

My heart goes out to alll of Australia and trying to locate a few Aussies

@Relle Thanks Relle, I thought that something like that may have happened with the numbers. Something similar happened here too with all of the numbers that got added because of computers and cell phones. I remember now that at the time, Rick was in Sydney. I now remember to that this is the...

    Parts for a soap cutter

Of all of the strings the G string is missing. I'll probably go get me a string around 22 gauge.

    Parts for a soap cutter

I recently made my first block of soap and I knew that I would have to cut it soon and somehow. I used an old knife from the kitchen (retired) and I didn't cut it well as I would have liked. I'd been thinking about the parts to a soap cutter, what I might have and what I might need. I knew that...

    Coffee CP Soap

Here is a picture of my CP soap that I made this past Sunday afternoon. I replaced the water with some leftover cold coffee and then at light trace I put in maybe two tbsp. of dry coffee. The tan color is from the coffee and the dark specs from the ground dry coffee. The colors have good contrast.

What soapy thing have you done today?

@Jstheidi I hope that isn't what is wrong with my right shoulder. I injured it just over a year ago. The worst part of it is sleeping. I will wake up with my arm up under my pillow and it feels like my shoulder is almost dislocated. During the day I can barely lift my arm over shoulder height...

Lard CP soap for clothes washing

@Ladka good question Thanks for the input y'all. I did just make some soap with some CO in it. It is a tad (2.5%) superfatted. Fat Amount (ounces) % in recipe Coconut Oil 4.75 oz 18.92% Lard 20.35 oz 81.08 % Total Weight 25.1 oz I could make a batch with a little more CO and 0% superfatted. I...

Lard CP soap for clothes washing

I can easily make me some "soap dust" by sanding a soap bar on a piece of course grit sandpaper. If I mix this 1:1 ratio with A & H washing powder is that a good mix and how much total mix would I need for an average washing machine? I know that machines vary from one make to the other and water...

    Technical Question about @insertuserame here

I have been typing @forumusersnamehere and it is missing something. Is it "quotename". When I do it, it doesn't look gray like everyone elses.

What soapy thing have you done today?

@Misschief Would the poppy seeds work well for some "shop sink" soap? I'm looking for something to use in my soap with a little scrubbing action.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I made a batch of 12 bars. My total oil weight was 25.1 ounces. I changed my simple recipe a bit for some variety etc. I used a little coconut oil and I used coffee instead of water and right when it was starting to trace I added one of those little Hotel room coffee containers. The soap...

    Picture of my Lard Soap

Thanks for all of the positive comments. By the time I made my fourth batch I learned how to recognize slight trace better and was able to get the batter in the molds sooner & quicker making them look a little smoother. 1-02-20 soap test update: I put a bar in each bathroom and one beside the...

My heart goes out to alll of Australia and trying to locate a few Aussies

I can't believe the devastation that I saw on the World news earlier this morning. Several Aussies have lost their lives in the fires and over a half a billion animals. All of us that pray, pray for all of you. Many years back I met some Australians that were touring around the U.S.A. They were...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I missed the December un-challenge by a day so I thought I would post here today. At 4:30 this afternoon my new batch (5) was just over 24 hours. My first time with a box mold and used cocoa powder too. At light trace I poured a 3rd of the batch in a plastic cup. Then I added cocoa powder to the...
