What soapy thing have you done today?

I made my 5th batch (1 dozen bars) today. I had got up early morning and got everything ready. We had company for lunch so I wasn't able to do my soaping until late afternoon. I've been using my fat/grease/LARD cake holder/handle that I made after my very first batch 2.5 years ago. It has really...

What soapy thing have you done today?

@AliOop Question? If the grease (fat) gets soponified by the LYE, what happens to the sugar?

What soapy thing have you done today?

@AliOop My soap bubbles real well and there is not any sugar in my house. I may be wrong but wouldn't sugar in the recipe attract ants? Also I don't have any goats or powdered goats. Do they like to be powdered? ;)

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm on my 3rd boil of my bacon grease before I call it LARD. I just unmolded my 4th batch of 12 bars made in recent weeks. I really like my silicone molds, they are easy to clean. My recipe works out well for a dozen bars. It is: 3.5 oz of dry LYE crystals 8.05 oz of cold distilled water 25.25...

What soapy thing have you done today?

@Zany_in_CO I was just being honest She does like "girly" scents. I cure 7 weeks and I only make it for myself. I was making soap before I joined this forum over 2 years ago. I've already have shown my soaps here. You will have to search my post to find the pictures.

    2 year test

My 2 plus year old CP LARD soap has been yielding good results and all of the bars have been stable and have always smelled the same. @Todd Ziegler Are you using the CP method?

What soapy thing have you done today?

I just typed a paragraph then I mashed the wrong button and cleared it, so here it goes again. I've spent the last few weeks on a steady schedule of rendering my bacon grease. I have been collecting it for going on 2 and a half years this go round. I'm using the three step or times rendering...

CP gelled in ~ 4 to 6 minutes

Thanks @AliOop . I don't make soap often and it has always been plain except the time I made CocoaSwirl. Half the batch had cocoa powder and right before the batch set up I stired them together. Adding FOs is/are new to me. Thanks for the advice. I have to get back to my paying job now. Thanks

CP gelled in ~ 4 to 6 minutes

No documentation whatsoever. That does concern me because I may have just made a hands only batch. I wouldn't want to use it on "super sensitive" skin areas, if you know what I mean. The product feels oily when you rub it between your fingers and it doesn't burn them or make them itch. I have...

CP gelled in ~ 4 to 6 minutes

Cheap, financial speaking. I'll rephrase that. Budget brand. I wanted to add a tad or touch of scent so that my wife will use the soap. She knows that it is made from rendered bacon grease, LARD, so her brain is telling her that it smells like bacon. I boil my grease 3 separate times and each...

CP gelled in ~ 4 to 6 minutes

I haven't made soap in a while and usually my method is fool proof. 25.25 oz rendered LARD 3.5 oz LYE 8.05 oz distilled water Heat LARD to 170 Pour 3.5 oz of LYE into water When both products drop in temperature to 120 degrees F, mix Stir for a couple of minutes then use mixer every 5 minutes...

What type or brand of FO for CP Lard soap

Morning all. I haven't been here in a while so I hope everyone is well. I dug up an old thread of mine that I had originally was asking about adding FO to my CP Lard soap. I have finally purchased a 4 oz bottle of Christmas tree scent made by Plant Guru Inc in New Jersey. Each batch of soap that...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Hey Y'all, I haven't made any soap since January 2020 until this afternoon. I'm down to 2 bars out of 68 that I had made originally. Everything seemed to go well. I've been doing CP with Lard. The difference today than winter when I made my last batch is the grease and LYE/water took longer to...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I havn't done any soapy things lately. I had some pressing transportation issues that took priority over everything. Now we are well into gardening season. As one of our future homesteading things to do. we are going to plant a small patch of wheat. Back to the soap, we still have over 50 bars...

    Possible Shampoo Bar Recipe

I have been using my CP 100% Lard Bars in the shower and they seem to be cleansing yet easy on the skin. Now people, especially women with beautiful hair don't cringe on this one. I have been using Yellow Dial Bar Soap on my hair before I use shampoo. If I don't my hair will look and feel...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Sunday I took an impromptu inventory of the soap that I have made, the lard that I have yet to render and the pile of wax from leftover holiday and emergency candles. To date I have made 6 two pound batches. I have at least that much more Lard. I have more weight than that in candle wax. The...

What soapy thing have you done today?

This is not a soapy thing but it is within the parameters of this forum as a whole. AND I know this is a candle thing, but as an experiment and I don't intend to explore candle making as I have been soap, However last night I tried to make my first "emergency only" candles out of recycled candle...
