What soapy thing have you done today?

I've had more success this weekend! Batter still thickened inexplicably on adding the lye solution, and the cucumber fragrance also slightly accelerates it, so my in-the-pot swirl still didn't go quite as planned, but at least no lye clumps on cutting it today so that's a victory 😄 I think I'm...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Thanks @Soaped, yeah the rebatching lye heavy soap videos I've found so far don't show any soaps where there are still clumps of crystals, so unsure whether I'll risk it. More research needed, but in the meantime I'll do a fresh batch at the weekend!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Off to find rebatching vids on YouTube... 😄

What soapy thing have you done today?

Oh that's an idea @bookworm42. I've never rebatched before, I didn't realise you could do that with soap where there's clumps of lye, but thinking about it properly then rebatching would cook it properly

What soapy thing have you done today?

I have had a disappointing unmoulding today 😔 Made soap yesterday, a recipe I've done before and familiar with and is usually pretty slow-moving. But for some reason yesterday when I added my lye solution to my oils everything started to thicken immediately. Not quite soap-on-a-stick but pretty...

    Hello From Watford, UK

Hi Michelle! I grew up in Watford (well, Croxley really). Waving to you and @Babyshoes from where I am now in Berkhamsted. Doing well representing the A41 corridor 😁

They're like disco soaps under the black light!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I've unmoulded and cut the soap disaster from the weekend. It's not awful awful, just mildly awful 😂 Obviously the swirls are non-existant and there are a few holes from not being able to jam solid soap into the mould, but still a usable soap. Total waste of FO oil though as it's a relatively...

What soapy thing have you done today?

First time joining this thread - forgive me for not reading it all from the beginning! I have just made a batch of soap today, aiming to use up some of my oils/butters that I don’t plan on re-ordering, so my recipe was made up just for today. Used a familiar FO which I’ve used before with no...

Review of the Hercules Soap Cutting Station from Custom Craft Tools

Hi @Saffron, it was £49. So £121 for the cutter, I also used a 5% discount code I saw on Ophelia’s Soapery on YouTube, plus £49 shipping = £163.95 in total.

Review of the Hercules Soap Cutting Station from Custom Craft Tools

Apologies for reviving a thread that’s over a year old, but I was reminded that I posted on it already when once again looking up reviews for the Hercules. It’s taken me nearly 2 years to justify the cost + shipping to UK and then it took nearly 4 weeks from ordering to it actually being...

Review of the Hercules Soap Cutting Station from Custom Craft Tools

I literally snapped the wire today on my loaf splitter after spending several minutes unwinding, then momentarily losing concentration and rewinding too tightly. The Hercules is a thing of beauty and I now want it! Think I will have to ask for money towards it for my next birthday present - the...

    Cherry blossom hand soap

CPOP is great when you want to ensure gel but your room is usually cooler or don't have a heat pad. I'm a hobby soaper and generally just make soap for me and a few friends/family so haven't invested in lots of equipment. Just remember to tell anyone you live with you've got soap in the oven...

    Cherry blossom hand soap

I've been making soap as a hobby for about 18 months now. Today, for the first time, I've had a batch go exactly how I wanted it to (bearing in mind it's not finished saponifying or been cut yet!). A friend of mine wanted to learn the process, so I used a familiar recipe, a reliable fragrance...
