    Help! Greasy soap

When you hit the four week mark, line up three close friends, people who would never sue you, to ‘test’ your soap.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Lye gets really hot and could break the glassware. Lye also etches glass and weakens it over time. Hdpe plastic is best for lye. Hdpe is also a reclyable material and a great option for mixing lye solution in. :)

    Soap soft after 4 weeks

My one bastile recipe was similar to this, no beeswax though, and I cut and unmolded my bars in about a week after initially pouring them, it took about a year before they were hard and a beautiful white color. They will be ready in a year. You picked a wonderful recipe for being a new soaper...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Should NOT have OPed my CP.... when will I learn. It would have been ok if I had put the support back on it and heated it up for 90 minutes max. But.... nooOOOOoooooooooooOOOOOoooo I decided against everything I read here and just popped it in for three hours. It now has a mangled top and it’s...

What soapy thing have you done today?

My soapy thing yesterday was to make a loaf of tea scented soap... and to be tea colored. Not sure I’m getting the color I wanted out of it and it was my first attempt at a hanger swirl but I have no idea how it will be because I have to wait at least 24 more hours. Also spent an hour refreshing...

@Mobjack Bay ahhhh! So pretty the blue on blue with the white! Elegant! @SideDoorSoaps this is so earthy, it reminds me of moss and forests love it! @Dawni you know, it’s beautiful! The orange is soft and compliments the blue, the muddiness is ok, it gives a water color feel to the soap...

"shelf life" of soap with carrot puree?

Right... and if you read a lot peoples accounts with a lot of purees (strawberry, carrot, etc) over time they turn brown and too much can affect the hardness of the soap. So if we take the chemistry involved, the lye is going to react with the oils in the soap and not with the purees. If your...

Not entirely sure what I did wrong

Sounds like it’s soap! Did you let the lye solution cool down before pouring it in? If it’s on the warm side, it can accelerate trace, even a with slow oil recipe. Air bubbles can happen if you don’t ‘burp’ your mixing stick before blending. When I used a stick blender for the first time, I...

"shelf life" of soap with carrot puree?

I had some soap that I rebatched with tea leaves and peach purée. A little over a year ago I found some of the abominations and my cheap self just used them. Disclaimer: they were horrid when I first made them 10 years ago. The rebatch was awful and the bars before I rebatched were some of the...

    Old post question

It’s called necroposting, and not encouraged. Many of the people are no longer subscribers or not as active on the forum. They’re great for initial information and initial research into stuff like dog shampoo. If you have a question, it’s best to start a new thread to get an answer or direction...
