What soapy thing have you done today?

@KiwiMoose thank you! That’s incredibly flattering! I always find your soaps gorgeous!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Cut my slab of soap. :) I forgot to swirl some thin lines I had dropped in with a squeeze bottle, and they look like tiny colored dots, but meh, hardly noticeable. They are scented with a floral fruity pear type scent.

What soapy thing have you done today?

@fancyschmancy By your own admission, you have only been soaping for a couple of months (your introduction thread even uses the word newbie) Here’s what could happen: you make a fabulous looking soap (not that difficult to do), and a customer comes and says it doesn’t last long enough, or...

    Supplies

I use nature’s garden and candle science for most of my scents. Candle science twice a year sale is a great one, and nature’s garden scents are excellent and well priced, but I live in the states. I get my 464 golden soy wax from three different suppliers in the states, I keep an eye out for...

Ok. Ultimate experiment. Didn’t have time to perfect my piping skills. Soooooooo, I have made tooth soap. It’s still in the mold. I realize I am the guinea pig in this experiment. I may be sacrificing my teeth. I might be an *****. 100% CO 10% SF PPO food grade extract/essential oil...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I used to try to help people like that, now, I have settled myself to just being amused by ignorance. I have to go see this train wreck. Which reddit thread?

Fragrance caused CP to seize, what can I do?

Yes, correct. Also, it will fill more space because of the additional water, be sure to have extra molds ready for pouring. It will also take much longer before you can unmold them due to the amount of extra water. Also DO NOT CPOP your soap, major separation will occur. CP is fine, the OP...

Fragrance caused CP to seize, what can I do?

If you don’t mind shrinkage, add some more water. Like double the water and hand stir, no stick blender. Expect a really long cure time. Individual molds are better than loaves or slabs when upping the water. Flip and rotate daily for the first two weeks.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Got a new job this month and have lost time for making soap. :( I made a few salt bars, only three, and I think I may be regretting it. If the salt is only for exfoliating... I’m disappointed, oatmeal is a great exfoliant, coffee grounds are a great exfoliant... and now I’ve got six months to...

Ugh. No. More. Baby. Yoda. Everyday my husband, who is in his 40s, shows me pictures and memes and clips from the mandalorian, that he’s already watched with me in the room of that green baby. Seriously. It reminds me of girls going nuts over toys from when I was a kid. These are grown ***...

@Drew Ackerman Dude! Webstaurant has some deals! If you have a smartfoodservice near you, it too has good places to purchase larger quantities of oils. Coconut oil has a really really really long shelf life, you're good with keeping that around for a while. If you store palm oil in a low...

@Drew Ackerman Awesome! So you want to sell eh?????):nodding: There are many people here who sell and many who don’t. I recommend just make soap a little at a time, one batch at a time. get some testers. Your testers need to be honest, blunt, and picky people. You don’t want the person...

@Drew Ackerman Bad smell - the scent is either due to CPOP, or mixing badly with my base oils, or it just does not hold up in CP. It was an on sale buy from a supplier and I bought two lbs of it. I like it, but it’s proving to be a bit fiddly. Hand stir - I’ve done very very similar batches...

So, when you move onto designs and color, I recommend one lb test batches. Nothing like having 35 ugly nasty smelling bars to go through :) I’m currently working through one bad batch of ugly nasty smelling soap! Thank goodness it’s only 1.2lbs... about 7 bars, three down, 4 to go Welcome to...

    My first soap recipe

Olive oil - 72% Castor oil - 8% Coconut oil - 20% Run it through a lye calculator give yourself about 5% superfat For the next six months make batches no bigger than 500grams each month, preferably about 250g to start. Your soap will start to be good soap around the 3 month mark. You will...
