What soapy thing have you done today?

It melted just enough to get through the hole and I plopped into the bucket. It got really melty at 95 degrees and hour later!

    Pricing

You can always price higher and then have a sale if things aren’t selling. I was told recently my soap was so cheap in cost but this person is from a metro area where items like soap are priced higher. I live in a rural area and the local market doesn’t like it much more than what I’m selling at...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Trying to melt my coconut oil outside because of this heat wave…it’s been out there for 5 hours and it still hasn’t melted all the way! It’s currently 91 in north central Pa. I left my palm out a couple weeks ago and it melted nicely. Me thinks this is not actually 76 degree coconut oil lol

How are you offsetting the cost of Olive Oil?

I get most of my base oils/butters from Soaper’s Choice except for Olive oil. I snagged a 10lb box of organic cocoa butter in November and I’m hoping it will last the rest of this year because yeah, the prices hurt! I like shea or mango butter but they are creamier than cocoa butter. Maybe bassabu.

How are you offsetting the cost of Olive Oil?

I started subbing in HO Sunflower or RBO for 10% of the olive oil now from 38% to 28%…still spendy! I just read an article though about cocoa and sugar products going up in pricing 😓

    Making Beard Serum

Depending on the kind of cornstarch, it can add thickening to the base and a somewhat silky, dry feeling when it’s rubbed in. I add cornstarch to my lotion bars.

Help with labels for multiple scents...

If you design a label that's compatible with Avery labels, there is an option you can print a certain quantity per page. Like on a sheet of 24 labels, you can split those 24 between different designs. It's quite a nice feature. Avery and Online Labels will print labels for you also. I print my...

Karma (Lush Type) FO - Patchouli haters read this.

I tried this karma dupe and I found it very light scented. Which my customers like but I prefer something with more patchouli oomph. I have an EO blend that people LOVE that's similar to @KiwiMoose ... for 2 oz (56 gm) 14 gm lavender 40/42, 14 gm dark patchouli, 10 gm orange, 10 gm rosemary, 8...

    Nature in a Bottle?

This is what kind of experience I was hoping to hear about @Daisy. I want to get some Palo Santo and guaiacwood and I think I’ll just get the Palo Santo from NDA. What other

    Nature in a Bottle?

I was looking for a particular EO and came across their site (which looks legit and very nice) and tbh their prices are a little outrageous to believe for the sizes offered. The reviews I've come across are mixed either raving or absolutely trash. Anyone here heard or order from them? Their FB...

    Embracing the Brown

I fragranced the whole batch, just added the clay to half of it. I didn’t get any bleed through. Although the clay half had more water in it as well from when I mixed the clay before putting in my oils. I’ve found that the clay thickens the batter too much without additional water to hydrate the...

    Embracing the Brown

I made my first vanilla soap with Tahitian Vanilla from NDA and was aware it was going to go brown so I worked with it by splitting my batter and whitening with white kaolin clay. It came out pretty I think. I didn’t expect it to be so white.

    Hanger swirl hanger sizes

I use a thick plastic hanger for my swirling and depending on the batter thickness, I usually get wispy swirls. The batter was kinda gloopy in the white and brown soap, fluid in the purple and black soap (those had circular movements around) and thick in the red and black one with just one swipe...

    Not rendered Frozen Tallow

@AliOop, I’ve never purchased tallow (although did pay for our part of this cow) but have checked out prices at other suppliers. It’s crazy to see how pricey it is! I don’t know what to do with the cracklins. I just put them in the fridge for now. No one I know has chickens at the moment. That...
