    Zany's no slime castile

I don't think it's really necessary, TBH. Perhaps if you were using a paper liner, but the silicone-on-silicone seems to grip very well. The bigger issue is getting them properly place the first time!

    New Year Soaping Goals

I went back and searched the reviews and the reports are all over the map! Some people get acceleration and ricing; some only get one; some make a point of saying they get neither! And the mixed bag goes all the way back to 2014, so I don't think it's a formula change. Keeps things interesting...

    Picture of my Lard Soap

I also like all the colours and amazing designs that people make (and I want to do them!), but more and more people are asking for "soap that doesn't make a mess of the sink"...

    New Year Soaping Goals

Okay so.....I remembered about what @amd said about Sea Salt & Driftwood slowing trace...but you didn't mention that Sun and Sand moves fast!! I had a medium thick batter (using a SoapQueen recipe---she had a brine and a salt soap recipe linked so I decided to compare them) and things were...

Might have to rethink my opinion on salt bars

Thanks for SF info....ooooh coconut cream, too? I have some in the freezer that didn't get all used up in a curry....was thinking for food, but now it's going in the soap! ETA: oh and as I read back, everyone uses coconut cream! We'll never eat curry again! :p

Thanks! It's actually plain old rectangle molds but with some embossing stamps from Michaels placed on the bottom. They're made for M&P, but do ok with CP from what I can tell...you kind of have to dig them out of the bar when you unmold, which can make things less crisp, but no worse than my...

    New Year Soaping Goals

So glad I posted this! Thanks for all the detail @amd ! I mean, I'll probably forget all of it in the moment, but I can't say I wasn't warned! I do remember you posting about how much your husband likes your salt bars...hope I like them half as much!

Might have to rethink my opinion on salt bars

Ok, so having, in another thread, declared that I'm about to make at least 8 batches of salty soaps, I need ideas for recipes.... I think I'll try : @Alfa_Lazcares's 80% coconut, 20% AVO and 50% salt. Superfact? Also, @shunt2011 's 80% Coconut, 15% Avocado Oil & 5% Castor. 40-50% Salt. 18%...

    New Year Soaping Goals

Well, no really lofty goals quite yet, but I did buy an 8-fragrance "Crafters Choice™ Beach Fragrance Oil Collection" (wooo hoo! and now that I go back and look at it, I paid less than 1/2 of what they're selling it for! yay me!) (1) 2 fl. oz - Beach* Fragrance Oil (1) 2 fl. oz - Beach Daisies...

More updating! I deciding to try again, with lots more SB. Added FO (Bergamot & Mandarin by Crafter's Choice--meh so far. I smell mainly fake Creamsicle and cloves...) and a bit of liquid colour (that didn't mix in so well, but isn't DOS :-) ) So! SB off and on for over 20 minutes and it never...

    Zany's no slime castile

It's a New Year's Miracle!! I had put the brie-like soap on the top of the fridge, intending to rebatch after our big meal on the 1st. But.... ....what to my wond'ring eyes should appear But a fully saponified soap In 8 tiny spheres! (actually it's 7, and they're rectangles and one flower) @Dru...

    Nurture Soap

Ok, reason has set in: 1. I don't know what any of these fragrances are, so can't say I really crave any of them. 2. I have to order these to my MIL's house near Chicago and I won't be visiting until next Thanksgiving! *Maybe* she'll bring them up to me when she visits, but you never know. 3. I...

    Nurture Soap

Putting things in my cart....rather blindly, as I don't know any of these fragrances. I'd have to go ALL THE WAY TO THE MALL to visit Lush in person to sniff them...#firstworldproblems....

    Post your Gripe

Gripe : I had to clean up the soaping kitchen so we can roast the turkey down here! Gratitude : i actually have a soaping kitchen. And I get a 10-dish NYD meal that most people have for Christmas Day, but we have such an elaborate {12-dish} Christmas Eve dinner that we can't possibly do it all...

    Christmas 2020

I was just wondering today if @Relle would post (this was one of the first things I saw when I joined last year)... I bought candy molds of Christmas items that I'll use for embeds for next year... Is it too soon to get started??

    Zany's no slime castile

Interesting info thanks! As it happens, I've been on a bit of a soaping blitz (5 batches in 5 days) and everything else has been going just as usual: OO good, scale good, technique good. I don't think the quart would make a difference, since you just use the quart measurement to make the faux...

    Zany's no slime castile

I finally made this Castille! And, it's very weird, I have to say. Covered with plastic wrap (I usually don't) and piled a towel on top. In 12 hours, it looked and felt like mozarella cheese! It had a firm skin on it but was quite liquidy underneath, I realised. When I went to clean up the SB...

    Natures Fragrance

Ok seems like a good time to do an update of those that I've tried..... 1. Shave and Haircut---nice and strong in the beginning, but has now faded substantially. You can still smell it if you really try, but not as promising as it was (3 months). 2. Into the Woods---was always too spicy and...
